C-Lovers Fish & Chips — Restaurant in British Columbia

This review is based on cleanliness only. I live in Kelowna and eat at Sealover's about once every month or two on average but the Kelowna location has shut down temporarily. Today I was on the Westside so decided to get take out from the Sealover's there.

Ok, this is pretty gross for those of you who care about the cleanliness of the person making your food. The cook was the one that took my order of chicken strips & fries. I paid with cash so he handled both bills & change. Without washing his hands or putting on gloves he grabbed the raw chicken for my order and carried it over to the breading station, he proceeded to bread the chicken & toss it in the fryer. I thought surely he'll wash his hands now but nope all he did was wipe them on a towel, finished preparing my food and touched the paper packaging and outer bag without washing his hands at all after touching money and raw chicken. Now first of all I'm sure this would go against the Health rules for restaurants & this restaurant could probably get fined for not washing your hands or handling raw chicken properly, second of all, you can bet that if he doesn't care enough to wash his hands after handling money & raw meat he is most likely not washing them after he goes to the washroom either. Unfortunately I will never go to this...

I had to travel to the Kelowna area because my father passed away and was staying with a childhood friend there. I ordered a 6 piece halibut family deal with an extra tartar sauce. I was extremely disappointed and upset because it was my last meal spent together with my friend and his father before I left back to Ontario. The fish was atrocious to put it simply. It was hard and rubbery.

I had called in to order and they told me to hold while verified they had enough halibut to fulfill the order and shortly after they confirmed they could. I was told pickup was for 7:30pm for the take-out and arrived at 7:40pm, then drove home arriving at 7:50pm. After tasting it we all agreed it was of very low standard and we contacted the chain. We were told that the tough and rubber like fish was as a result of us not picking it up at 7:30pm and being 10 minutes late since we arrived at 7:40pm, which is ridiculous. However, when I arrived the coleslaw wasn't even ready. They refused to entertain the idea of me bringing it back for a refund.

I found it hard to believe this experience because they are fairly high rated on google reviews, and even my friend and his father had told me it was nothing like this in previous experiences...

We went there for lunch today. First one of my friends found a hair in her drink. Then we got our food and i found a hair in the batter of the fish there were 2 pieces of fish still so i asked for 2 new ones... 4 of us had all u can eat. The other 3 asked to take theirs home. We were informed they coudnt because someone had ordered 2 extra already. I didnt order 2 extra i ordered 2 new ones because i found hair in my food. Then the owner comes over and starts tripping! Yelling telling me to calm down when i was just saying i didnt understand why she said i ordered extra when i just asked the rest of my food to be replaced after i found hair in the food. She was yelling at me and very aggresive. And on top of that she is the owner. THEY DO NOT WEAR HAIR NETS WHILE PREPARING FOOD. its gross i will never go here again. And maybe she should take some time off. You never ever treat your customers the way you did simply because i asked the reason to be explained because i didnt think it was fair my friends coudnt take their food home. Shame on you lady! You for sure are burned out, go get some help!!! I will never return...
