I came right when it opened and it was quiet, but as soon as 11:40am hits, everyone from the hospital will be lining up here.

It's a nice mom and pop shop that serves a lot of food items. You can get a sushi burrito or their version of poke bowl if you order using the sheet at the counter. Otherwise the main menu won't have it.

Nabeyaki udon - big portion. Looked good but the soup was lacking umami. Just tasted like soup soy sauce that you can buy.

Tempura - very well fried. Not oily. Not overfried and hard. Very delicate crunch.

I took a sashimi salad and chicken katsu don home.

Sashimi salad - big pieces and many pieces of salmon and tuna. This is a big plus over other places. Downside is that there is not much noodle so it's not very filling, and not a lot of sauce. Just a couple of drizzles of their house made salad sauce and where is my wasabi mayo ㅠ.ㅠ . I had to add some of my sesame salad sauce at home or else it didn't taste like anything.

Chicken katsu don - big pieces of chicken katsu. Also lacking sauce here so the whole thing was quite dry.

This place gives you bigger pieces and somtimes bigger portions of things but it doesnt give enough flavor. I think if you try the sushi rolls, it would be good because of the big sashimi pieces but so far, anything that needs a sauce or soup doesn't have much taste. However, I can see others' photos of the poke bowl and special rolls look good and saucy. Maybe I'll try...

I ordered their poke bowls as I was craving one while I was in the area and had not tried this place before.

I will start off with the constructive feedback. First and foremost I will say that what I had would not be considered as poke. I'd recommend that if you are looking for poke this place doesn't have it as what they offer is more of a Donburi vs poke. I'd rather walk down the block to go to steves poke bar if I wanted authentic poke.

With that said though, their donburi bowl was super delicious. Rice was very nicely done with good flavour and all the ingredients used were super fresh and delicious. As far as restaurant food quality goes it was exceptional. Again just wouldn't call it poke.

The couple who work here are super friendly as well. I will definitely come back for the good donburi bowl and...

The owner tried to scam me. First time ordering here and when I went to pickup, she subtly had tipped herself on the machine before handing it to me. Luckily I noticed because the number was very high. She fixes it after I bring it to her attention but then proceeds to tell me 'I'm so lucky' to have my salmon for only $10 because the tuna is $20. It felt passive aggressive and made me uncomfortable. She should review her own menu prices online if she doesnt remember, instead of trying to scam for a 30% involuntary tip. Super inflated prices. Service was off-putting, wont be back. A shame because I work at the nearby hospital, makes me wonder how many other hospital staff she has potentially scammed. I will walk a little further to Ikoi...

Arigatou ありがとう ! This little joint is dope, an awesome spot to grab some good eats sushi grub when your in the hurry from RCH Hospital which has limited options within the area, especially those that are literally adjacent and 200 meters from the entrance. The Agedashi Tofu 揚げ出し豆腐 I must admit was super weird and tasted more like fish stick style batter or nuggets, rather than Tempura. Albeit, the rest of the sushi was plentiful portion and plenty of yummy fresh Edamame 枝豆. The Dynamite Roll 炸虾卷 in fairness was the yummiest, totally dig the added crunchy Yam in there as a sweet edition. Super friendly couple running a quaint, low fuss and minimalistic sushi and poké joint with a nice vibe after very reasonable fare. Support local businesses!

The prices were the same as what you’d typically pay at a downtown Vancouver sushi restaurant, but unfortunately, the quality didn’t match. The fish lacked the freshness and flavor you’d hope for, and the sushi overall was just average and the ginger too salty. The dining experience was also hindered by an annoyingly loud fan in the background. It made the atmosphere less enjoyable and made having a conversation difficult. For a meal that’s priced like downtown Vancouver’s sushi spots, you’d expect a more polished experience both in terms of food and ambiance. If you’re in New Westminster, it might be convenient, but for the same price, you could find much better options elsewhere in the Greater Vancouver area.
