Sushi Simagoya(작은 섬 생선초밥) — Restaurant in British Columbia

UPDATE: Returned for takeout tonight and the manager gave me my meal for free to makeup for our experience from our last visit. I have revised my review adding a star. Gluten-free soy sauce was in a separate container for this order.

We’ve eaten here a lot and food is always fresh and staff friendly. I don’t write reviews often, but wanted to caution anyone that is gluten intolerant after my experience today. I asked for my meal to be packaged separately from my husband’s and for gf soy sauce. At pick-up my husband asked if there is gf soy sauce included, and the pick up person said yes and confirmed he wanted two. When he brought the food home, I didn’t pay attention when opening the soy sauce and when I was almost done my meal, I realized that the soy sauce was the regular one. I called the restaurant about this and the person who answered the phone said that they don’t give gf soy sauce on to-go orders, only for eating in, so that’s why she put regular soy sauce in the bag. She did apologize, but I still don’t think she realizes what a big error this is for people like me who can’t tolerate gluten. My goodness if you live in this neighborhood you need to get here, hell if you have to drive from another neighbourhood it would be a Gr8 idea. This Teriyaki Set was huge and fresh and tasty and served with joy. I came in here for an early dinner and was really pleased…… Chilled and Mixed green Salad with sesame, ginger dressing, nice cherry tomatoes, Pork Gyoza were hot, 8 piece Crab Roll was perfect and the Teriyaki Chicken crust was a crispy wonder on a bed of cabbage mix and a layer of hot rice. Oh yea, a Gr8 Miso as well. Before I could get started the very professional server brought a new summer dish for me to offer an opinion and I’m not much for salmon cooked, but this generous 5oz patty was seasoned nicely and I think some green onion and maybe a grain or something to hold the Fresh Salmon together won my 2 thumbs up.

I lived in Queensborough landing for almost 12years now. I’ve never tried these restaurants on Ewen as I always prefer across the bridge restaurants are generally more fresh and professional in their particular cuisine. Today my car broke down and I am craving for sushi and can’t wait for my uber eats, I decided to risk it and try this place out. To my surprise the sushi blew me away and the quality is up there! I think can sell my car and just walk here from now on. One thing I would suggest is in the online ordering system, if u can choose to have a comment section which I can have a choice or no certain sauce on my sushi because I cannot take Mayo.
