Well, I finally got to the new location of Sushi Well today. It has been years since I’ve been there, so it was like a brand new experience. I rarely eat alone, but tonight was a night where I was eating alone. I walked in the door, and they actually had a nice little bar at the window that you could sit by yourself and not feel out of place eating alone. The moment I came in, they added water to a little puck that turned into a napkin. I have them at home and they’re super fun and a great thing to start with when you’re going to eat sushi like me, with my hands due to lack of chopstick finesse. 😅 The staff just made me feel very welcome and wanted. I looked at the menu and the price point was awesome. But then the food came. I could not believe how fresh the food was. Every element of the Bento box that I purchased, was well thought out and was not thrown together. Starting with the salad, I can’t tell you how many salads look like somebody threw them on the plate and splashed dressing on them with no thought whatsoever. My salad was crunchy, crisp, flavorful, and well presented with the cutest little carrot on top, and the two chef specials of the day were really adorable. One was two spring rolls I think they’re called with plum sauce, and the other one was a prawn skewer. The sauce on the skewer was perfect. It brought out the flavour of the prawn. I had not had pink sushi before (unless I did the last time I was at the restaurant,) but I do not remember that. I spoke with the lady and she explained to me that it was made out of beets and I believe she said carrots. They had to get a special license for it. It’s very healthy and it just had a different flavour to it. so it was like eating dynamite rolls, but next level. I moved onto the chicken teriyaki, and the alfalfa sprouts were just so crisp and crunchy. There was also a really flavourful sauce. I’m guessing that they make the teriyaki sauce themselves or else it’s high end and not Kraft lol. No matter what, it’s amazing. I really enjoyed the tempura. The batter was delectable. And even though I ate far too much because it was so good, I still came home with enough to have lunch tomorrow. Definitely glad I went and I will be back for sure.

Sushi 🍣 Well Japanese Ambience: Casual/modern/clean Parking: Street Meter Food: Excellent Service: Exceptional Costs: Good value When majority of the reviews are of the same possitivity, it only means they are consistently good and deserves to recognized! Inconsistency just doesn’t work for me. My sanity, time and money are just too valuable for businesses that constantly needs justifications, having to right the wrongs, etc. Afterall, we eat out because we want to enjoy! So why not do it right the first time? This place understands that! Service: We came 1/2 hr b4 closing. Greeted warmly by the server with warmed hand towels (usually done but rarely now in upscaled chinese banquets). I told the server that I’m not a fish person and my partner so I’m just gonna regretfully order bento box instead of the high end items. She said it’s fine and even recommended things she felt I might like. The servers and owner proactively attended to us with smiles through the entire meal. Food: I’ve seen photos of their food prior to coming but they don’t do them justice! The bentos were lavishly presented! 🤩 Everything in the boxes were so fresh and delicious! Especially the beef teriyaki was so tender that I had to ask what cut of beef. The owner told me it’s sirloin. I was expecting the skewers of shrimp to be overcooked, but it was just right and so were the tempuras. Loved croquettes which are rarely included in bentos. The sashimis my partner told me were not skimpy. We also liked that they didn’t pile on the rice to make food appear “big” instead, lots of fillings! We also loved the spicy tuna roll. I was told me that the spicy sauce is homemade. 👍🏻 Yeah, we can’t help but kept comparing all aspects to other restaurants of alike that are more expensive but lower in quality. Just because it was the end of the day, the tired servers were still diligent; the food were still fresh and tasty. The lemon slices in the water, warm hand towels add a nice touch. IMO, they don’t cost a lot but small gestures like these speaks huge about a business’s integrity and value for customers. I told Jenny that IMO why some restaurants fail soon or later but I can feel that Sushi Well isn’t gonna be one of them!

WELL let’s see… If my memory recalls, I first went to the old location a decade ago and visited this new location when it was first opened not long ago. I decided to give this place a revisit since mama here was kinder than the food I tried. This new location is located on 6th Ave and 6th Street in New Westminster. There are both free and paid street parkings through the surrounding streets and area. Inside the restaurant is freshly renovated; dining area at the front with sushi bar and kitchen to the back. Its a bit smaller then the old location but still okay size and comfortable. Here were the food I ordered this time around; 1. Tuna toro sashimi. The portions were generous, the taste was buttery and fresh. 2. Salmon sashimi (1/2 order). Pretty fresh and tasty (I personally preferred the Atlantic salmon more than the sockey) 3. Prawn tempura. Nice light crisp batter, the prawns were of good size and it was deliciously hot. 4. Oyster motoyaki. It had its own recipe take on it, but the oysters were little midgets and the sauce didn’t do it for me although mama there was quite enthusiastic about it. I personally just wanted one nice fresh juicy oyster motoyaki on its shell lmao. 5. Salmon, tuna, red tuna, tamago, ikura nigiris. They were okay and pretty basic although they use their special sushi rice. 6. Spider roll. It was okay, pretty standard. I think i preferred the one at Sushi California more. Overall, the atmosphere was pretty casual, the service was decent and the food was okay. It does get a bit crowded and the noise level goes up a notch during peak hours because of its smaller space but it’s still quite comfortable in terms of spacing. The service was okay and the staffs were quite friendly. WELL let’s see… As for the food, they were pretty basic and standard although they do have their own patent recipe for the sushi rice. Which on another note is a big deal cause good sushi is all about the quality of the sushi rice.

Sushi Well is a sushi restaurant that truly stands out in both its offerings and atmosphere. Located in the heart of downtown, it balances traditional Japanese design with a modern, chic vibe. The moment you walk in, you’re greeted with dim lighting, sleek wooden tables, comfortable booths, and an overall minimalist décor, subtly accented with elements of Japanese culture, such as ukiyo-e prints and bamboo plants. The ambiance is warm and inviting without being overly formal, making it perfect for any occasion, from a casual lunch to a celebratory dinner. The service here is exceptional, with the waitstaff striking a perfect balance between professionalism and friendliness. Our server was attentive without being intrusive, offering helpful recommendations and ensuring that we felt comfortable throughout the meal. The menu itself is expansive but not overwhelming, featuring a variety of sushi rolls, nigiri, sashimi, and inventive dishes that highlight the chef's creativity. We began with a selection of rolls, including the "Dragon Roll," which combined spicy tuna, avocado, cucumber, and eel, topped with a sweet eel sauce that perfectly complemented the heat from the tuna. The "Tsunami Roll," a signature dish, was another highlight—shrimp tempura, crab meat, and avocado, topped with spicy mayo, jalapeños, and truffle oil. The truffle oil added a unique depth of flavor, making it a bold yet delicious choice. For those who prefer simpler preparations, the nigiri and sashimi offerings are some of the freshest we’ve had. The tuna, salmon, and yellowtail nigiri were delicate and flavorful, while the toro (fatty tuna) melted in the mouth with its rich, buttery texture. The uni (sea urchin) was also a standout, with its smooth, custard-like texture and briny, oceanic flavor. The appetizers were just as impressive, starting with a refreshing Tuna Tartare that combined diced tuna, avocado, and citrus, lightly dressed in sesame oil and soy sauce. The edamame was perfectly salted with a light char, and the Tempura Shrimp was crispy without being greasy, accompanied by a tangy dipping sauce that brought everything together. For something heartier, the Yaki Udon—a stir-fried noodle dish with tender beef and vegetables—was rich and satisfying. The beverage menu is equally well-thought-out, offering a diverse selection of sake that pairs wonderfully with the sushi. The staff is knowledgeable about their sake, and we enjoyed a crisp Junmai Ginjo to complement the fish. The cocktails are also a treat, with the "Sushi Mojito" standing out as a light and refreshing twist on the classic. For dessert, the Green Tea Mochi was a simple but perfect end to the meal, and the Tempura Cheesecake—rich and creamy with a golden, crispy crust—was indulgent without being overwhelming. While Tsunami isn’t the cheapest option, it’s certainly worth the price. Rolls range from $12 to $18, with premium selections like toro and uni costing a bit more, but the quality of the ingredients and the care in preparation make it well worth the investment. Overall, Sushi Well offers a memorable dining experience, with fresh fish, creative rolls, and excellent service. Whether you’re a sushi enthusiast or just looking for a great meal, it’s a place that’s sure to leave you wanting more. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys high-quality sushi in a relaxed,...

When it comes to sushi, Sushi Well has set a new standard for excellence. From the moment we walked through the door, we knew we were in for something special. The warm, inviting atmosphere combined with the genuine smiles from the staff immediately made us feel at home. But let’s dive into what truly makes Sushi Well stand out—the food. Simply put, it’s extraordinary. Every dish we tried was a symphony of flavors and textures, showcasing the skill and artistry of the chefs. The sushi was incredibly fresh, with each piece bursting with vibrant flavors that danced on our taste buds. Whether it was the traditional sashimi or the more inventive rolls, every bite was a revelation. What impressed us just as much as the food was the variety on the menu. Sushi Well offers something for everyone, whether you’re a seasoned sushi enthusiast or new to the world of Japanese cuisine. We explored several options, from classic rolls to their signature creations, and were blown away by the quality and creativity. The presentation of each dish was stunning, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to the experience. The staff at Sushi Well are another highlight. Friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, they made us feel like valued guests rather than just customers. They were quick to offer suggestions and ensured that our dining experience was nothing short of perfect. It's clear that customer satisfaction is a top priority here, and it really shows in the service. The ambiance at Sushi Well is just right—modern, clean, and relaxed, making it a great spot for any occasion. Whether you’re out for a casual meal, celebrating a special event, or enjoying a quiet dinner, the setting is comfortable and inviting. And while the food and service are exceptional, the prices are pleasantly reasonable. It’s rare to find such high-quality dining at such fair prices, making Sushi Well an even more appealing choice. In summary, Sushi Well offers an exceptional dining experience that’s hard to beat. With incredible food, a welcoming atmosphere, and stellar service, it’s a place that every sushi lover—or anyone who appreciates great food—should visit. We left with full hearts and full stomachs, eagerly looking forward to our next visit. Five stars,...
