Hands down the worst customer experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant. I dined in with a group of 6 people the evening of Thursday, December 1st, and ordered an extra BC Chicken Burger with Onion Rings to-go for my partner at home.
I don’t remember the server’s name, but he was an East Asian male working the closing shift.
When I got home, we noticed we received the wrong burger (beef burger), when I initially ordered a Chicken Burger. My partner cannot eat beef, so we discarded the burger.
I called Whitespot new west at 9:33pm and spoke to the same server who helped me for 5 minutes. It took him a few minutes to rectify this over the phone - he offered me either a free dessert or a $10 voucher. I kindly let him know that I’d just like to have the same and correct chicken burger/meal next time I come in or order over the phone.
The server assured me that my name and phone number was noted down for next time, so my order would be comp’d next time around.
Today, December 5th, I placed an order over the phone to-go, for the exact same chicken burger meal and a Sambal chicken meal with a spot salad. I notified the server of my situation and she confirmed with me that she saw my name & info taken down by the previous server, and that my BC chicken burger meal would be free.
Upon walking into the restaurant to pick up my meal, I was billed the full amount, which was around $45.
I ended up speaking with the manager and told me there is no back end system or pen/paper history of my name, phone number, or previous situation noted down, and that I would have to pay full price for the meal.
My only option was to wait to speak to the General Manager in the morning, and pay for the meal in full.
I highly doubt there was nothing the MANAGER could do.
I was reassured more than once by two different servers on two different days that my meal would be free next time I came in, and yet, not even a manager could help me.
His words were “the server who was just helping you is new… she probably has no idea what she’s talking about.”
That statement in and of itself was blatantly disrespectful to his employee.
I was kind, patient, and extremely disappointed at the fact that I was assured over the phone 30 minutes before I picked up my order that the meal would be comp’d - made the trip, just to not even get my food AT ALL.

From the very moment I start talking to him. It felt like he doesn’t care what I’m saying. Kept on asking me if I’m here for a refund or I got a refund from Uber. I just kept telling him. I’m not here for a refund. I don’t care about a refund. I just want to tell you that it was a bad batch it looked weird and I felt sick. I was being very polite but the whole time he was just coming at me saying maybe I ate something else before or I should have taken a picture, my bad I’m sorry I’m not that kind of person who takes picture of every freaking thing she eats. And of course I wasn’t expecting it to make me sick or was looking to get a refund to take a picture of it at first place. Also, I’m very particular about what I eat and from where I eat I only freaking go to specific places!!! my last meal yesterday was at 4 PM that I made for myself and then those chicken wing were the only thing I ate at 10pm! All I wanted for him was to listen and say that we are sorry maybe something was wrong. We’ll make sure it never happened to anyone again cause nobody should be getting sick. But instead, he just keep talking as if they could never do anything wrong. I work in food industry too and trust me things happen orders get wrong, Sometimes food is undercooked or just a bad batch. It’s OK to accept it and apologize.
But the reason why I’m writing this review is The way he talk to me, Something in my gut told me that maybe it would have been a different conversation if I were a different skin colour. I left when I realized he doesn’t care. My brain took a few minutes to process what happened by the time I reached home, I had a little panic attack and I cried cause I’ve been living here for over a decade and this is the first time I I felt someone treated me different just cause of my colour. Read moreI would give this place zero stars but 1 is the lowest option. I went there last night for dinner with high hopes. The after waiting in the lobby for 10 minutes we were finally seated the place wasn't busy and there was no line up in the lobby area. After flipping through the menus for 20 minutes the server finally showed up and no specials were mentioned these people don't even know how to upsell or promote any new food items. Our server was useless and made no effort to refill drinks or ask us how everything was. She made zero effort to make us happy. The milk shakes weren't even served in standard glasses she told me all the glasses were being used cuz the milk shakes are popular. I found that hard to believe considering the place was half empty. I was really disappointed with the puny burnt fries only like 5 fries were long and looked like what you are supposed get, nothing like what was advertised in the menu. When I got the server's attention she stood there and smiled and was like "Oh they are different sizes" I was thinking so what are you going to do to fix the situation? She did nothing because all her attention was on the party of 10 people that were seated near the entrance she didn't care about any of the side tables. So I walked up to the bar and grabbed more napkins. Then I got sick of being treated like l didn't exist and walked up to ask for the manager. He was useless at problem solving no apology just excuses we paid our $52 and no tip for horrible service. If this is how customers are treated we won't be coming back to this god forsaken place.
