âââââ A Culinary Sanctuary in Vancouver, Canada â Where Every Bite Awakens the Heart and Soul!
If youâre in Vancouver and yearning not just for food, but for an unforgettable experience steeped in authenticity, culture, and heart, look no further than Vada Pav Mirchi by Geeta Restaurant.
We were so enchanted by our first visit that we returned the very next dayâand were even more captivated the second time. From the very first bite of their iconic Vada Pav Mirchi by Geeta, we knew we had discovered something truly exceptional.
It wasnât just a dishâit was a symphony of textures and flavors, a bold yet comforting homage to Mumbaiâs bustling street food, refined with gourmet finesse. The crisp, golden vada, the soft, freshly baked pav, and the vibrant house-made chutneys created a culinary moment that was both nostalgic and elevated.
But the journey didnât end there. We indulged in a beautifully curated array of Maharashtrian classicsâfrom Sabudana Vada, Kothimbir Vadi, and Misal Pav, to the sweet comforts of Puran Poli and Shira, and the rich, decadent Kaju Curry. Each dish was a celebration of tradition, crafted with care, and bursting with bold, authentic flavors that spoke of home, heritage, and love.
What truly elevates this restaurant beyond exceptional food is the genuine soul behind it. The owners are more than hostsâtheyâre storytellers, cultural ambassadors, and heartfelt visionaries. Every detail of the experience reflects their deep passion and commitmentâfrom the soulful service to the thoughtfully curated space.
The ambiance is both grounding and uplifting. One wall pays tribute to Chhatrapati Sambhajiraje, while another honors revered saints Dnyaneshwar Mauli and Sant Tukaram, creating a sense of spiritual connection. And the use of custom-crafted Kansa (bell metal) plates and utensils, specially commissioned from India, adds a layer of cultural depth and authenticity. Itâs not just about how the food tastesâbut how it feels, how it heals, and how it connects you to something bigger.
The peaceful music, the welcoming decor, and the gracious warmth of the staffâespecially Esha, who served us with such attentiveness and intuitive understandingâcreate an atmosphere that feels less like a restaurant and more like coming home.
Whether youâre a lifelong lover of 100% vegetarian or vegan Maharashtrian cuisine or discovering it for the first time, this is not just a dining experienceâitâs a cultural immersion, a heartfelt memory in the making.
Vada Pav Mirchi by Geeta Restaurant is a place where food nourishes the body, stories nourish the soul, and every guest leaves touched by something truly special. A five-star experience in every senseâhighly, wholeheartedly recommended.
Thank you, Team Geeta, for reminding us how deeply powerful food, community, and culture can be. We can't...
Read moreThis is going to be a bit long but... Vadapav Mirchi is a delightful gem for anyone craving authentic Maharashtrian flavors in a cozy, homely atmosphere. From the moment you step in, the interiors transport you straight to Maharashtra. The simple yet charming dĂŠcor, with traditional touches and warm, inviting vibes, is complemented by the nostalgic tunes of Maharashtrian songs playing softly in the background. It feels like youâre stepping into a home rather than just a restaurant.
The food is nothing short of amazing. We started with Misal Pav, and it was finger-licking good. The rassa had the perfect balance of spice, just the right amount of tanginess, and a rich, savory flavor that made each bite irresistible. The misal itself was rich in taste and texture, truly a dish to remember.
Then came the Kanda Bhaji (Onion Bhajiya) â half a pound of crispy, golden, crunchy perfection. The quantity was generous, and it paired beautifully with the chutney â spicy yet flavorful, just like how it should be. We also got to try the peanut chutney and coconut chutney, and both were absolutely divine. The peanut chutney had a nice crunch, and the coconut chutney was soothing, offering the right spice levels for a satisfying taste.
Masala Chai- Perfect combo right? Perfect .
The Sabhudhana Vada was another highlight. It was incredibly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Not at all oily, which made it even more enjoyable. The white coconut chutney served alongside it was a perfect match, adding a delicious flavor and creaminess that elevated the whole dish.
We couldnât resist ordering Shrikhand to take home. My husband is a huge fan, and this one was creamy, rich, and just the right amount of sweet. It was a perfect end to a delightful meal.
The real heart of Vadapav Mirchi, though, is Kakku and Kakki, the wonderful owners. Their warmth, kindness, and hospitality made the experience so much more special. During our conversation, I mentioned that I had recently gotten married, and their reaction was so touching. They gave us a beautiful handwritten bag with "Happy Married Life" written on it. We were genuinely moved by their thoughtfulness. Itâs rare to encounter such genuine, caring people, and it added a personal touch that weâll never forget.
This restaurant is a must-visit whenever you crave comforting, delicious home-style Maharashtrian food. The food, the atmosphere, and the people make it a place that feels just like home. I wish Kakku and Kakki all the best and much success in the future. Do visit and enjoy a taste of Maharashtra, with love and warmth...
Read moreThis is an extremely disappointing place. Yes the food is good. However, everything else is a very poor dining experience.
Price - The price is literally an example of extortion. Being half Marathi myself, who knows how to make these dishes - if you compare how other restaurants charge with respect to the making price, youâre paying for literally just for their monopoly. The pricing is atrocious even for someone in the food business. Basic essentials like chutney which are actually served free are not just given at a small surcharge, but actually at a whopping $2. Literally a spoon of green chutney in your dry vadapav that wonât go down your throat will make you first cough up some $ to just grease your throat with some flavour.
Poor service - their idea of cost cutting is to have the bare minimum staff, out of which only one or two are employees, rest are their own family members. It means waiting endlessly for everything, and despite paying such high prices, you get essentially not even the bare minimum quality of service.
Ambience - the ambience is a joke. For the price they charge, their decor is cheap, the seating is bare minimum in comfort.
Annoying owner - the only socializing the owner does is to pretend to befriend the patrons, and stick one more business idea to their face which basically amounts to asking if they can invest in his new business, instead of letting the patrons enjoy whatever little is possible after the prices. Our lunch went cold in trying to entertain his inflated ego.
The food is good and they have a monopoly over some items, but I would love it to have some competition soon so it can bring down a prices to a more reasonable amount. I have stopped going there and in fact just get the spices and materials myself.
Thanks to this place, Iâve become amazing at cooking them myself....
