TLDR: The food was okay BUT service REALLY needs improvement.
Let's start with the positive: We were 3 people (2 adults and 1 toddler) and ordered the following dishes: Curry rice combo: nice portion, curry sauce was tasty, but the potato in the sauce was cooked okay (it was a bit hard, not cooked long enough) Tantan noodle soup combo: soup was very tasty, the ingredients are fresh and came in okay portion. However if you're thinking of adding extras, I don't think it's worth $2.50 for the quantity. Teriyaki chicken: soft inside an crispy outside, well marinated, very good taste. Sadly our order was not fully cooked, would have been better if left to cook for 5 extra minutes had they communicated with us. One extra bowl of rice: good portion, worth its $2. HK milk tea: very warm and fragrant. Almond team: very warm, fragrant and mildly sweet.
Now about the service: We arrived at the restaurant at 11am, they seated us very quickly. I asked a few questions about recommendations, and got very nice input. After putting our order, they brought our drinks right away. Everything went okay until the food came.
The soup, curry and extra rice were quickly served, but teriyaki chicken only came 15 minutes later, after following up thrice. When it came some parts were still elastic not properly cooked. Either they forgot that item in our order and cooked it late, or they didn't coordinate the time for the food. In any case, we HAD to ask them THREE TIMES just to get a chicken that is partially elastic and 85% cooked (if you are aware of the danger of an uncooked chicken).
They were proactively asking us whether we are ready to order, but not proactive enough to inform us that some food would take more time. Would we have known, we would have waited patiently.
Lastly, we got a surprise at the cash counter. I specifically asked for 2 ingredients in the soup. A note that when I got the soup, it came with some extras that I didn't order. This being the first time at the restaurant, I thought that that it would be normal to have a little amount of other ingredients (some mushrooms and some veggies), but only realized that they would charge me at the counter. Anyways, since I ate them and didn't flag the waiters, fault is on me.
Although food was good, the service left a...
Read moreSo... I had decent expectations when some people recommended this place... but this was pure disappointment.
First off, the noodles combo. (You chose 1 soup base, 2 proteins, 1 noodle, and 1 drink) I had the Marinated Mustard and Pepper base + sliced beefs brisket + shrimp + udon. The soup base was spammed with salt and pepper to the point that my tastebuds went numb. (I love strong flavors as mild doesn't taste anything to me, so this was a shock) It was way too overpowered by salt and pepper. I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS BROTH.
The Lemon Water (H5) that also came with it was terrible. (I didn't think that was even possible) I don't know if it's the cup, but it tasted barely acidic, and it had a weird metal taste. I didn't even want to try adding sugar to see if it would improve... (the drink includes 2 sugar packs on the side) (0/5)
Then we ordered the Chinese Sausage and Charcuterie on Rice (104). This bowl was actually pretty good. (4/5) I highly recommend this for first-timers or anyone overall since you can't go wrong with this dish.
We had a cold lemon tea with this combo and it was pretty good. (4/5) For cold drinks, there is an additional 1.75$ for combos.
Finally, we had the steamer Siu Mai. It was... disappointment. It was pretty flavorless and tiny. I don't recommend this at all.
The food overall was mediocre, but the rice combo was good.
The service... was questionable since it took a while for us to be seated, and our waitress didn't seem to know how to communicate. (Maybe she was tired, who knows) The food came in pretty quickly, though, which is nice. The cashier was also really nice and asked for our feedback, which we greatly appreciated it.
Overall, this seems like a nice establishment but the food was... really sad. I did have good hopes for this place since a few people recommended it, but maybe I just came on...
Read moreHello, everyone. I would like to share my experience with you. I went to the restaurant for lunch with my friends this afternoon. We came as a group of 8. Each of us ordered 1 meal. The waitress didn’t serve us any sauce other than vinegar. Because I like spicy food and the food I ordered was not what I really liked. And my friends also like spicy food. The we asked for spicy sauce. When we asked for spicy sauce for a second time. The waitress started to speak in a very impatient and impolite way telling us if we asked for more, we needed to pay extra money for the spicy sauce. Then all of us started to count how many spicy sauce we had been given: six spicy sauce in total. Plus: one spicy sauce equals just “a little bit” because they put the spicy sauce in a very mini plastic container and the spicy sauce only covered the bottom surface of the mini container, whose size was at most 2.5 cm in diameter. Then we said were 8 people and asked if we could at least have one for each. The waitress said no because the two people who ordered rice meals could not ask for spicy sauce. Since then, the waitress didn’t come to offer water and tissue paper. When we went to pay our bills, we told the cashier what had happened to us. The cashier said we had asked for double spicy sauce, so we needed to pay for that. Are u kidding me? What does double mean? Was your maths taught by your physical education teacher? We were so sad and disappointed. We really had a very bad experience and we have never experienced this kind of service in no matter which restaurant or which country. I just want to share this experience with everyone, hoping you guys know that the service of this restaurant is very bad and the food is so so.
Anyway, in the end all of us paid them 10% for service fee even we really didn’t want to pay even one cent for...
