I wanted to like this place, I really did. MC pho is my Brossard go-to pho restaurant but it's closed today, I guess it wouldn't hurt if I'd try a new place, Sao Sao was jumping to my face, however it didn't stand up to my expectation...at all.

The restaurant is actually well decorated. The server was nice and cute, too. BUT, the spicy beef rice noodles, also known as bun bow hue, were a big miss to me.

First of all, the noodles were way too undercooked. When it comes to cook these kind of thick rice noodles , you have to soak them into hot water for a couple of hours ( at least 30 minutes), then you can cook them into perfection, however, I don't think the cook here knows this technique like every other pho restaurants out there. The rice noodles are too hard to chew. Even bending them is difficult.

Second, the broth was not even hot, not tasty at all. This lemongrass flavor was missing, due to the lemongrass chunck that they use was sitting in the fridge too long, I assume. And the meat was nearly fresh, for spicy beef soup , I don't expect lots of flavorless prok stew in there. Big disappointment.

The curry chicken bowl (p4)was pretty standard. That was the only reason that I rate this place 3 stars.

Oh, one last thing, they don't...

I ordered the Bún bò Huế and the kids menu on my visit to this resto. The soup was lukewarm and the broth tastes 100% MSG. There were only overcooked beef slices in the soup with onion and no other ingredients for the Bún bò Huế. No pork knuckles, no Vietnamese ham, no pork blood, just the tasteless beef slices that had been sitting in the pot for hours. I don't mind fusion food but the problem here is the Bún bò Huế tastes so bad. MSG plus sodium broth. Nothing to enjoy about the soup. They don't give Viet mint only coriander and small amount of chop suey. This is already a red flag. For the kids menu the the size of the rice bowl is so tiny and they r charging I believe around $15 for the tiny bowl of rice with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream for dessert .The portion is not even enough for a 4 y.o child. Only a few small pieces of cut up meat, some coleslaw and rice in the small bowl. For comparison the bowl size is the size of a small bowl of rice in a Chinese restaurant. Had to wait for 15 mins before the waiter come and give us the water, waited another 15 mins for him to return to take out order. Needless to say I will not be returning, nothing good about this restaurant. Bad food, bad service. 0/100 wasted all my calorie quota...

the food is very good here but the employees really need serious help i sat at the table, the waiter came over to me and asked me what i wanted i told him i want to order some food he then came back and pushed the menu into my chest, and didnt even pay attention to handing it to me i then ordered e4 and a2 i asked him if i can get more water once again he got it and set it on table without even acknowledging if my food is ok he never asked if the food was good or not i then went to pay for my food, it was 15.xx i put a 20 and a 5 on the counter and was reaching for my change , when he grabbed the 20 very quickly and made me change, at this point i am very frustrated with him, i put all the change into my pocket and start towards the door, i didnt know but he followed me and he said sir next time leave a tip. i started to tell him off, what kind of a inconsiderate scum would even say that after knowing he gave me horrible service i started to yell in the restaurant at him ,and then they asked me to leave by the way this is the 2nd time that i have had bad customer service there but i love the food if they knew how to be waiters then they should deserve to receive tips but they have very bad customer service at...

My friend and I were at dix30 and debating on what to eat for lunch since everything (or almost) is expensive over there. We decided to go to Sao Sao on a whim, I had never tried it but she had. It was a HOT summer day in the middle of August and the waiter advised before even giving us a table that the AC was broken which was thoughtful. They had fans on so it wasn't too bad. I had a Gi cun roll as an entree, and it was delicious! I could've eaten two or three of these and would've been full! The sauce they gave you with it was also incredible. As the main plate, I had Bò nng with rice and the little salad. It was grilled beef with its own spices and seasoning. It was truly delicious, and it filled me up, definitely worth the price I paid! All in all, the prices are very low and the portion size is generous! The restaurant itself isn't the fanciest in its decoration or ambience, but it's cosy enough, and I would recommend trying it on an evening and getting different plates to try. Definitely will go again!

I came to have lunch and to order a take-out lunch. I liked the food, the grilled chicken with rice vermicelli etc., a bit of water at the bottom of my bowl at the end, the sauce offered is good but sticks a little to the vermicelli etc. The coffee comes with the lunch, but I had to ask for it at the end of my meal and despite having paid for two meals, I only got one coffee. Good coffee though. The salad portion with the meals is a bit bland, I don't know if it's the preparation or if it's put in the fridge well in advance of the service. The pork is good, but be careful for people who don't like strong ginger or lemongrass marinades. The spring rolls are good but have a lot of grated carrot. A bit small too. I think the option of taking or not taking the bean sprouts and lime next to the bowls of soup would be appropriate, to reduce food waste. I liked the somewhat discreet service less, but it may be my style and preferences in terms of customer service or that I am a Millennial. I will go back with my partner, I will try something else, the chicken sandwich is good - even better with an addition of sriracha to consider!
