Terrible experience. Yesterday morning (Nov. 21, 2023) after having dim sum, my wife wanted to buy roast duck next door affiliated to the same restaurant. When we walked into the roast duck store, a female clerk in her 30s probably wanted to say hello to us, but because we were paying attention on the price list on the wall, we didn’t hear the greeting from the clerk. When we were about to buy half a roast duck after checking the price, the female clerk kept her head down and deliberately didn't look at us. I asked: Is there anyone serving here? She turned back and said: I greeted you but you ignored me. I immediately said: I'm sorry, I really didn't hear it. Next we asked for half a duck. My wife asked: Is this duck made today? She immediately replied: We didn’t even have enough ducks to sell yesterday! Finally, when the other woman who was cutting the duck prepared the duck for us, my wife asked again: Can I use Alipay? She immediately rejected: It can’t be swiped! Although there were no questions in the answer, there was a hint of impatience in his tone. My wife couldn't stand that she deliberately ignored us from the beginning, and then every time she spoke she had an impatient tone, so she said: Can you speak nice? She immediately said unfriendly: What's wrong with me? Is this bad for you? My wife said: Look at your tone? She said: What's wrong with my tone? I interrupted and said: There is a sign outside your door showing that we can pay with Alipay and WeChat, but you said you can't pay! Can't you explain it better? She still continued to argue with us aggressively without any apology. My wife said she needed to talk to her supervisor. She said she could look for it if she wanted. Finally a young man approached. She first told the boy the whole story in Cantonese. I heard her saying that she greeted us when we entered, but we ignored her and started arguing with her. After she finished telling the boy her reasons, I then told the boy my problem. I asked why there was a sign on the door saying I could use Alipay but she said I couldn't? Can't you give us a polite explanation? The boy didn't explain to us why we couldn't use Alipay, but told us not to make a fuss. At this moment, the woman was making faces at us behind the boys' backs, as if she was saying: Look, it's no use asking our leader. When I saw her ecstatic look, I pointed at her and said to the boy: Look, she is smiling at us. The boy did not look back, but said to me: You also need to pay attention, how can you point your fingers? This is extremely disrespectful. Needless to say what happens next. No one came forward to solve the problem, but encouraged this woman's arrogance. How can I go to a store...
Read moreBefore I go on my big rant, for those who are here for the food, it's really good. 4.5 stars out of 5. So come here for the food!
That said, I am giving it 2 stars because of the service I received today.
Really bad customer service (and even offensive) because I came here alone.
They started off by putting couples (who would use the same size table that I would, so not taking up more space for customers) in front of me. After about 3 couples and having to wait much longer because of that, I asked why. The lady got me a table after having point out to her the list of people that came after me and sat at the same size table that single people would be sat at. Nonetheless I didn't mind too much, it's not like she was doing it out of malice-- or son i thought.
But then I got singled out by some of their stagf for sitting at a table alone. I understand that one person eats less than 2, so I ordered enough for three people to eat. Nonetheless, the two staff setting up my table was bad talking me back and forth thinking that I didn't understand their language...
Everytime I asked for something (like water, napkins, a new bowl because the one they gave me was sticky from some kind of sauce) the person serving me would ignore me and go to another table.
He had made a big fuss about me being here alone at the beginning.
At one point he even stopped to talk to someone right in front of me after turning his back when I asked for water.
Water was put down at my table so hard that it spilled over. Nonetheless, I still said "thank you, and it's okay."
To-go containers were just left there even though the two tables beside me had their"s all nicely packed up by the man who was serving me. I don't mind packing up my own to go food as I often do, but they should be treating customers equally and not discriminating.
This is my third time here, even today, i put on a smile and was as nice as I could be. The only difference was that I came alone this time , and the staff made a big...
Read moreWe went for dim sum on a Thursday afternoon, arriving around 12:30pm. We were seated very quickly, as we were only 2 people. The restaurant was already pretty packed! Overall, the food was very good, a little disappointing to receive certain dishes, such as rice paper rolls with shrimp, peanut butter dumplings, har gow, etc. dishes that were room temp or pretty cold. Many dishes we got, such as char siu bao, beef tripe, pork and veggies wrapped in curd, were very hot and delicious! The rice paper rolls with shrimp was very tasty despite being room temp, the rice paper was rather thick, which occasionally overpowered the taste of the shrimp, the shrimp was very plump and juicy! The wait time between the first dish and the second was the longest, being at around 10-15 mins wait, but once our second dish came, all the other dishes came within a 30 seconds interval. The har gow was good, it was brought to us at room temp, it would have been better if it were hot. We did ask for soy sauce and never received it. We also got Siu Mai, and that arrived at the same time as the har gow but it was much hotter than the har gow was. The beef tripe was smoking hot, very juicy, flavourful, and just the right amount of crunchy. There was a lot more than I was expecting! The pork and veggies wrapped in curd was piping hot, burning our tongues as we expected it to be just as cold or room temp as other things we received, but we were pleasantly surprised that it was hot and so flavourful that you don't need soy sauce for it! The peanut butter dumplings arrived last, and it was by far the coldest. Not even room temperature, just cold. We ended up having 1 bite each, then took it to go so that we can warm it up at home! The food was very filling, and they very quick at removing our plates whenever we finished...
