Been going to Bloomers all over the GTA for years. It’s always been nothing special- but my most recent experience was absolutely awful and I don’t think I’ll ever be supporting any of their locations again. The person working decided to be outrageously rude throughout the interaction. There is no reason to go spend $45 for 6 donuts and also have terrible service which is slow and makes you feel like garbage. We struggled to open the door when we arrived and when we finally got it open (needed a harder pull) the person looks at us and says (not in a cute joking way) ‘is this your first time using a door?’….. in shock we just ignored it, but the shocked face of the other patron made us realize that it was note a funny joke. The interaction continued and it was very slow- which is okay- however everything was trouble. For example, when we asked to confirm cupcake flavours (because they weren’t listed where the cupcakes are) she told us to go look at the fridges with the bulk cupcakes and read the names of the flavours from there then come back…. There was only 3 cupcakes…
We also asked for coffee with oat milk. When we got our coffee it was black so we kindly asked for the oat milk to be added and she let us know that if we want milk in our coffee that’s called a latte….. after a long interaction with bad attitude I was genuinely shocked. I think if there was miscommunication when we ordered it, it could’ve been confirmed at that point (for example on the front end- let us know that if we add milk it’s called a letter etc so we can come to a conclusion on the front end fee both agree with) - instead she was happy to let us walk out with the wrong coffee and when we finally convinced her that coffee comes with milk and that’s not a latte she was furious…. So idk.
Bad days happen and I don’t expect service to be smiling or full of energy…. But a donut place taking 15 minutes to get you 2 donuts while also not knowing what coffee vs latte is - is scary…. When you’re paying premium pricing. It was worse than any experience I’ve ever had at a Tim Hortons…. But with the food costing 8x the price and the time...
Read moreUPDATE: bloomer’s offered me an opportunity to come back and try everything again! We communicated via email and the owner was so amazing! They were so accommodating and very sweet, and I went back redeeming what they offered me.
When I went back, I ordered a Biscoff Caramel Latte, an Oat Milk Matcha Latte sweetened with Vanilla Syrup, a Rose Pistachio donut (again because it was toooo good) and a Boston Cream donut! Both were super delicious! The coffees were great this time! We especially liked the matcha tea latte! Customer service was awesome from when we were emailing back and forth to my in-store experience. Thankfully, because they reached out to offer a solution for the previous visit, it ended up being an overall great experience! They deserve the 5-star review for the comeback. I respect the efforts and ways they made a new experience perfect. ————————————————- I took my order to-go. Their coffee was the worst I’ve ever had. Not too sure if the espresso was pulled wrong or if the machine needed cleaning or recalibrating but it was just the absolute most bitter coffee I’ve had in the worst way possible. I ordered a flat white and it tasted so burnt and bitter. I ended up going to Starbucks to get my coffee after I left the cafe.
However, the donut I got was so tasty! I got a Rose Pistachio donut and I’m so glad I made that decision. The dough was soft and fresh and the flavours were so accurate. I definitely will be craving this in the future!
The customer service wasn’t really notable. The barista was super neutral and it wasn’t too memorable of an experience with customer service. It’s not necessarily a bad thing because some cafes are just like that. It’s totally fine, but I feel like a memorable customer service experience would have made my bad coffee not so regrettable. I regret purchasing the coffee so bad I can’t believe I spent money on that coffee.
To conclude, I wouldn’t go back for the coffee. I think the only thing that would bring me back is how amazing the donut tasted. I’m curious to try their other...
Read moreI have given this place a number of chances and I hate that I have to write a review like this for a vegan place I’ve tried so passionately to support. I’m not sure if it’s just this location, but the customer service absolutely sucks. I’m bewildered why the owners have chosen those who work there to be the face of their brand. Many times in the past year or two, I’ve walked into this shop, and thwre has been loud ethnic music blasting out of the speakers and/or employee talking to someone on the phone in their ear pods. I have continued to give this place a chance, even after a major screwup with one of my cake orders last year (on top of the cake being way too sweet and dense that we couldn’t even eat it), because I know they are a small family-owned business and I so desperately want to support their vegan products. The most frustrating: The gentleman that works there needs to find another career. He continuously messes up orders. I can’t hear what he’s saying half the time and have to ask him to speak up multiple times, and it seems like he just doesn’t want to be there. I feel like I’m bothering him every time I walk in the door. Most recently, he was about to overcharge me and I only caught it when I questioned why the total amount showing on the register went down by so much after only taking one small item out. He responded WAY TOO CASUALLY that he had accidentally put two of an item in the box… absolutely ZERO apology or “oops” or anything semi-remorseful followed after he said that. I was too stunned to speak, and didn’t even know what to say. I responded with something along the lines of an “uhhhh…. Okay….?!” This employee desperately needs to be taught proper customer service and perhaps also needs to grow a bit of backbone. Or he just isn’t meant to be there being the face of your brand at the front lines. If he was my employee, he would have been fired long ago. I’m honestly not sure if I want to come back again… every time I enter and leave it just seems to ruin my...
