Bombay Chili — Restaurant in Burlington

We live in Waterloo. In looking for an Indian restaurant where we could collect some takeaway en route to my Mum's in Burlington, I came upon Bombay Chili. Others were too expensive and/or didn't have what I was looking for; a thali plate of sorts because we all like different things, so thali plates satisfy everyone. The lunch special was exactly what I was looking for and it did not disappoint.

We are self-proclaimed food snobs, so it takes a lot to please us. The food was delicious, fresh and hot (heatwise, not per Scoville Heat Unit). The butter chicken was the best I've ever tasted. The sauce was velvety and rich. The curry chicken was flavourful and the naan was soft with the right amount of chewiness. I'm not a fan of rice, so won't comment as it's not fair. The samosa filling was tasty, a little spicy.

Prior to placing our order, I required some information as to the menu items, so called the restaurant and spoke with Manny, Co-owner. He was pleasant and helpful. Although I had ring back twice with another enquiry then app issues, he was just as pleasant the second and third time.

When I collected our order, I chatted with Manny. He was just as friendly on the phone. I explained that I had chosen his restaurant based solely on the reviews. I also mentioned we were in town to celebrate my Mum's birthday. I had forgotten to ask if raita is included (you'd think I would have, but I didn't). It's not. My only comment where they can improve is to add a little container, so those who cannot handle the heat can temper it down. He quickly went back into the kitchen and brought me some raita. He also gave me an Indian dessert for my Mum. I offered to pay, but he comped it. I thought it was really sweet of him.

Delicious food and excellent service made it a wonderful experience. This place is a hidden gem. We will be back.

We wish Bombay Chili...

We went to this restaurant with the hopes that it would be open for dine in. We arrived at 11:10pm on Saturday and the restaurant was suppose to be open till 12:00am mid night. The cashier said that they were only doing takeout at this time? I understand if they did take out only with 15 mins to close but we had to take the food out.

We ordered our food and the takeout food was coming out abnormally fast. It’s like the food was already prepared and they are just trying to get rid of the left overs.

After we got home and started to have the food the butter chicken was super bland, the rice was under cooked and hard, the naan was absolutely rock solid even the store bought frozen naan is wayyyyyy better than what we got from Bombay chilli. The tandoor chicken tasted almost chemical just drenched in red food colouring and tasted beyond bland, felt like it was 2 day old chicken. The vegetable schewan noodles were so gross, it was cold and tasted like plastic, also there were bits of hard pieces of wierd bits, felt like nails to me. The samoas were burnt to a crisp and tasted disgusting.

We basically threw all the food out, and the food cost us 70 dollars. To be honest the food, the service, and the overall vibe was just horrible. If this restaurant is going to run longer it won’t survive for long.

Please use this feedback to improve your restaurant. I personally will not be recommending this...

Me and wife have very strong likings, I love butter chicken and she loves chicken momos. We recently moved into the neighborhood close to this restaurant and we were reluctant to try given the volatile reviews.

But one fine cold 🥶 December'21 evening we decided to order our favorites from this place. And oh my god, it was best decision. Since then we have order around 10times in the last three weeks.

Butter Chicken is the best you will have. It's super close to Delhi, Pandara Road butter chicken. The best in GTA really recommend. I know my butter chicken and I give them 5 stars. I was born and raised in Delhi, this is by far the closest it gets.

And the Chicken Momos are out of this world.

Kadhai paneer has been one of the best, they make it in house paneer which is so so so good they make it so flavorful.

And then chilli chicken, oh my god. I have had the best.
