I was so excited when I stumbled across this place while doing a quick google search in the area for some delicious Tom Yum soup. The photos and reviews on Google looked great. But upon arriving to the location, the ambiance was quite underwhelming and dull. We weren’t greeted with a smile or a friendly welcoming. I had to initiate that I was here to pick up an order. The restrooms had NO toilet paper.. so they clearly do not maintain them. Also… there wasn’t any customers in the restaurant so they should easily be on top of things like that!
I was really looking forward to this and had high expectations just because of the Google presentation of it. Mind you upon going in it was the total opposite experience.
The service was very poor. (I work in hospitality so I always have high standards, as I tend to give 5 star service to all my customers.) it is quite mind blowing when customer service is poor/lacking. Automatically makes you not want to visit the place ever again.
The Tom Yum soup was not Tom Yum soup, it was basically a container of oil. Do I want to drink oil??? Hell no!! That is not what I wanted at all.
Tom yum soup is something I regularly order at a local authentic Vietnamese /Thai place. But the Tom Yum I was given from Burlington Hakka was literally just a container of OIL!!! I could not eat this as I would be utterly and violently sick.
Also dislike that they pack it to-go in a plastic container. And it’s super hot. Scorching Hot liquid In plastic?!? Never a good thing.
I would have loved to like this place as they have a very large menu with some of my favourite dishes but alas I was so turned off by that Tom Yum and overall experience, I won’t...
Read moreOur go to place for Hakka is usually Hakka Fresh restaurant near Walkers Line since they open over a decade ago. Hakka Fresh was super busy being Friday, long wait time so we ended up coming here. We ordered Tandoori Momo, Fish Pakoda, Chilli Wings, Chicken 65, and Schezwan Chicken. Most dishes were Deep Fried and very DRY- DRY, hard to chew. It appeared we ordered food that are not prepared lately by the cook, not sure. I had hard time chewing these dishes due to super dried up meat, except the Schezwan Chicken which had gravey, and Chilli Chicken Wings were tasty, rest all were Super Dry. The person who first attended our table, NEVER came back again, or brought glass of water until we asked for it. Looked like short of staff. I believe their noodles, rice, steamed Momos or Momos in Soup, and other gravy menu items may be ok to order but not any dry food items because they over fry it and meat was super hard to chew, including Tandoori Momos. Still giving 4 Start for the effort that one and only Female Server was making to make sure guests are being taken care of. The original server never came back to our table, didn't even ask how the food was. We waited for water, for extra napkins and even Green Chillies in vinegar was never filled in, we asked twice then only it got refilled with vinegar, barely any chillies in it. No red hot sauce either. We may not return here, sorry. Even if we do, we may just order noodles and gravey food items as a take out, and not anything fried because they are super hard and...
Read moreThis place fell from a 5 star comfort food spot to 1. I am disappointed with how bad this place fell off, in its early days the service was “okay” but the food really made up for it, the fried rice the biryani the chow mein used to be fantastic. Their chicken 65 was elite, the other dishes like garlic chicken, the sesame beef were all amazing too. But maybe what I’m upset about were the momo’s and how bland and soggy they became although they are served “fresh”. I have been here countless times with different friend groups and they all noticed the decline. The chicken cuts are all very obviously old, re-fried, and has 0 white meat. The rice is just greasy. No exaggeration the sesame beef is always burnt nowadays. The chicken items all tastes the same (bland) yet they all seem differently coloured, you can’t use food colouring and expect the taste to be different. Ever since the new management/team and things went downhill. I hope this place...
