Swiss Chalet — Restaurant in Burlington

I wanted to come and write a review for this resturant and I was shocked to see a review about my dog.

I would hope that if a manager or store owner had an issue with my service dog - they would speak to me directly.

I come to Swiss Chalet often and I was a long-term employee of Swiss Chalet for approx 8 years growing up.

For the woman who posted a review below and to anyone else who requires a lesson in invisible disabilites and service animals in Ontario, I'm happy to provide a brief overview.

Per the Customer Service Standard of the AODA, my service dog is trained and comes with me to work, to school and to anywhere I frequent including resturants. I suffer from autism and sezuires. While my disability is invisable, does not mean I don't live with a disability. The law in Ontario allows me to keep my service animal with me at all times that includes resturants. Legally, I don't require my service animal to wear any identification. I provided this resturant with a letter from a healthcare professional. Again, the law requires one of these standards to be met. The standard has been met.

The servers always bring my dog water in a paper take out soup bowl and I order her chicken. My dog has never got onto the table. Why? Because she's trained. I feed her off the table and she doesn't drink from the table either.

She is also not a Boston Terrier, she is a French Bulldog.

I would encourage people who cannot see someones disability to stop passing judgement.

Food was decent quality, but service and attention from both the cook and waiter was lacking. After dropping off our food the waiter spent most of the time hiding in the back. Saw her pass by once or twice during our meal, then had to wait about 10-15 minutes for her to come back out to ask for our bill. This was on top of the time she had already spent in the back before we were ready to leave. She may have been on the other side of the floor, but considering I don't think there are two entrances to the kitchen (though I could be wrong) she probably wasn't there often since we sat 3 booths down from the door.

Meals were served fairly quickly, but were just warm. The two chicken dinners ordered seemed like a hit as usual, but I didn't order that time, hence my review having such a low score.

Somehow I didn't notice until I had eaten about half, which is on me, but the BBQ rib sandwich didn't even come with sauce on top, and the perogies only came with plain sour cream, not with the Cajun like the menu said. It's my fault for not noticing this before I ate them, but I assumed that maybe the recipe had changed and the sauce was just there but not in a large amount. When the waiter (finally) came back with the bill, we mentioned the lack of sauce on the sandwich and she argued that it was supposed to be like that. I didn't finish the whole thing and you could clearly see the only liquid on the meat was just from the coleslaw.

Place was clean though, so at least...

I took my mom to the Burlington location on Fairview for her birthday today. When we walked in there was two other groups of people standing at the door waiting. We waited together for about 10 minutes and not anyone around to seat us. Seated 3 booths away from the front door was 3 employees, 2 browsing on their phones and 1 eating a meal. They looked at us all at the door and just ignored us. It wasn't until I walked up to them and asked if the whole crew was on break at the same time or if anyone was working and letting them know that there were 2 seniors waiting to be seated that the lady that was eating finally got up and seated us all. She said a server would be right over and we waited another 10-15 minutes and no one came. One of the couples that was at the door with us left, then we got up and left and the third group was getting ready to leave also. Although my mom was disappointed(she likes swiss chalet), I took her to the Mandarine and we celebrated a wonderful dinner together with excellent customer service.
