Hi.....so I went to charcoal pit today for some quick lunch. I ordered a large fries for me and my friend to share and a large milkshake. My total was $11.27 which is a pretty good price since the Fry container is huge and comes packed to the rim, but for the first time my order took forever. As I waited for more then 20 minutes just for them to cook fries in a deep fryer, they then gave me my milkshake that was so thick that nothing could come through the straw ,since it was like paper and was very chewable. I thought nothing could get worse that day, from me Waiting so long to eat food and having a milkshake that was practically hard ice cream, but guess what, it got WORSE!! Normally large fries are in a large square box that is made of plastic and is about 30cm by 30cm. Well, for some reason they gave me a bag that you get when you want something to go which, I never asked for and inside was a box that probably had less fries then if you bought a small fry. I was frustrated, my day was ruined but, I could not let them get away with this rip off. So, I went up to the counter and asked what size this box was and the lady talked back with the meanest voice and said, this is a large fry, we just put it in a different container. It made no sense how could a large fry be in this little box. As I had no time to fight, I left the store angry and disappointed at there cooks and customer service. I hope this is not normal and my experience was just one of those bad days every restaurant has but, I still feel this is not acceptable in anyway and that no one should ever talk back to someone the way the lady did to me. Thanks for reading about my time at...
Read moreCouldn’t wait until I got home to leave this review as I’m incredibly disappointed with my experience. I definitely should’ve taken a photo of the quality (or lack thereof) but it’s already in the garbage. I’ve managed restaurants for years and the first thing that immediate stuck out to me was the cold temperature inside the restaurant when it’s currently “feels like -5” outside. I sat down in a booth while waiting - the seat and table were really cold to the touch (yes I could tell through my pants) which makes zero sense to me. It’s winter and they have chosen not to have any heat turned on. They may feel warm enough working near their equipment but for your paying customers you choose to not provide a warm enough environment? I tried the Banquet Burger combo and gave up on the taste after the first 1/4 of the burger. The patty itself tastes exactly like the patties you buy from the frozen section at a grocery store and the cheese they use is a sliced processed cheese but you could truly taste that it was processed. Very similar to the taste of Kraft singles. The fries came with zero salt and whatever potato they use isn’t a good enough potato to eat without salt. You could tell the oil was dirty and probably hasn’t been changed in a while because the fries had the browning of an overdone fry but it was extremely mushy. I’m not even mad, I’m just disappointed to know that myself and other people are losing out on money for something that’s not worth...
Read moreThis place used to be my go-to spot for salads. Unfortunately, the quality has gone downhill. Lately, the salads are kept in the fridge for hours. I kindly asked for a freshly made one because, despite tipping on previous visits, the quality had been disappointing.
When I requested a fresh salad, it felt like I was being treated as if I was in the wrong for simply asking. I was told, “Don’t worry, we made it at 4 PM.” That’s fine.......except it was now 10 PM. No one wants a six-hour-old salad at that point.
There needs to be more pride and class in how customers are treated. You never know who’s walking into your business. I even thanked them for making a fresh salad, and out of nowhere, another customer (who wasn’t involved) jumped in to defend them. I told him this had nothing to do with him, and unless he was paying for my food, he had no reason to speak on it.
I used to come here twice a week. Under the previous ownership, the staff took more pride in the service and food quality. Now, it feels like a cash grab. One of the cooks handles money and then jumps straight back into food prep without washing his hands. The last time I ate here, I had an upset stomach for days. I gave them another chance, but after today, I’m done.
As a loyal customer of 20 years, I won’t be coming back. Burlington has changed, and it’s frustrating to drive 20 minutes for food only to be disrespected. I wouldn’t be surprised if health and safety eventually...
