I came to try this cafe out, and I was a little bit disappointed.. I ordered a mocha latte (which was rather expensive compared to other local options) and the espresso/coffee tasted under extracted as well as incredibly weak (likely because they used a super automatic espresso machine) but the atmosphere whilst it is really small, is pretty cozy and I did like it. More detail: I can't speak much for *everything* as I only tried a Mocha, but I was extremely disappointed with it.. I walked inside, saw they had a regular commercial grade semi automatic espresso machine, and decided to order a mocha (their prices aren't on the menu itself), but I noticed instead of using the semi auto machine, they used a super automatic espresso machine that automatically grinds the coffee, and steams the milk for you (most of the time not too well) without any required labour from a barista. I should've just changed my mind and asked for a refund right there, because I had a feeling it wasn't going to taste too good and I was right... I've been to plenty of cafes in and out of Canada, and this is one of the fewer cafes that have disappointed me. The cost of my Mocha was $2-3 more than other cafes around the same block, even though there was almost no labour that went into creating the drink (given that the super automatic did everything itself), so I was a bit surprised by the price. Sadly, because of my disappointment with the Mocha, I likely won't be back to try other items to give more reviews. Tips for the business: Please have your prices upfront on the menu itself. I felt a little trapped when I ordered, got my drink and then was given the price and saw it was $2-3 more than cafes on the same street as you. If I had known the price and process of making the drink beforehand, I genuinely would not have ordered from here. And if you're going to use a super automatic espresso machine, (which usually cannot grind the coffee beans fine enough to extract a proper espresso shot) despite having a semi auto machine next to it, unless you're using premium quality coffee beans, the price shouldn't be so high especially considering little to no labour goes into using a super auto, and people like me usually tip on top of that.

Wow - people are so divided!! Little, local, independent coffee bar. How do we judge them? The sign says, "coffee," so I score them on coffee. 5 stars because it's local, small, independent, and the shop owner is sassy. It's not a French bakery, so I'm not judging them by their croissants. It's not a creamery, so I'm not judging them on, of all things, ice cream. It's an independent, local dive coffee shop that thrives on a loving clientele who know what to expect: a cup and some backtalk. This doesn't sit well with some people, apparently, and all you have to do is scroll the reviews to hear their cries and lamentations. Someone complains about the syrup used. Really? If you order syrup in a coffee isn't that pretty much assuming the risk? Some people find the baked goods not quite up to their lofty standards. I mean, ok, but if your thing is flour and sugar, wouldn't a bakery be a more likely destination? Call me simple. A coffee shop that serves hot coffee, 100 feet from the waterfront park, seems like a pretty solid spot to me. I'll say it again: 5 stars for what it is, not what it isn't. ☕

If I could give it zero I 100% would. The very first shop to appear on the search, great reviews and super close to our current location, sure let’s do it. Coming in, asked if we could sit inside, clearly they had the patio. We were told we could eat and drink our coffee inside. Perfect! We bought our coffees, and after purchasing an older man comes very rudely to say we had to leave and couldn’t eat or drink our coffee. Far from that, at such a prime location, during a rainy day at the rib fest, there was two customers in all the facility. They ensured to waste coffee, lose money and lose customers. It’s like I was so ready to let everyone know how friendly and understanding the staff were and within 5 minutes I could only wish that lakeshore coffee house was closed on a rainy day on Sunday. With that being said, let me refer you all to Tamp coffee company, perfect environment, friendly staff and let me tell you that my funnel cake went very nice with the vanilla latte.

To your reply - You poor written response and zero engagement to the original post goes to show how little experience you have with people and customer service. People have left 1-2 star reviews not based on your food or coffee but your poor treatment and zero relationship to ensure you have returning customers. My success is not influenced by you, so I don’t understand where in your closed mind that has anything to do with this. Unlike others I do not wish to go out of business but so that you realize that there’s more to this world than you coming to this beautiful country, leaving behind things you did not agree with (as did I) to come to a welcoming country. Sad to see that you lack that perspective in life. Needless to say, you don’t care about your customers more so to sell and sell and even lose $7 - $10 dollars as opposed to gain service and people who appreciate good small connection and cozy...

There are no labels or prices on anything, so I not only had to ask how much everything cost, I couldn't actually name most of the things I was asking about. I thought this café must be new, because how else could they be missing such a basic thing? But it's not new at all. I'm baffled. (And if it turns out they have a full written menu somewhere in the place, the employee did not point it out to me.)

Even their drinks are not all listed. I had to ask if they still offered London fogs, because it wasn't listed on the chalkboard; and I only knew to ask because I saw it listed on a previous version of the board in one of the Google Maps pictures.

The donut I bought was good, if perhaps a bit too sweet (and I say that as someone with a pronounced sweet tooth). The Portuguese tart was also good, though I suspect they get them at Fortinos (and they charge over twice as much for them).

On the upside, the atmosphere inside is very nice. It's pleasantly dark. Low-lit, but not dreary. My favourite thing is that the seating area is separated from the entry area by both a wall and a small set of stairs. It makes it feel private and secluded. I would have stayed longer if I hadn't had other places to be.

Their ice cream is also very good, and even the "kiddie scoop" is a decent size.

If they start putting labels and prices on things so I don't have to ask the employee about every single thing I'm even slightly interested in, I'll...
