The amateur nutcracker play was fantastic, other than I'm unsure why there was a Arabic dancer solo seemed like she was about to start stripping on stage, thought it was a family show, here I am with my 2, 3 & 7 year old daughters with my 5 year old niece. That was the only disappointing part for the play. My opinions on the actual performing arts centre, let's just say I do not like the service I got from the ushers, tell me I have to wait for the scene to end before I can go back to my seat ..after taking the children to the washroom an usher told my children they couldn't leave the theatre.. I was a few steps behind them..I had to tell the lady they were having to use the washroom. Another usher walking towards me with no other distractions going on.. After I said excuse me and put my hand up, and still kept walking. The reason for trying to get his attention was that people were recording the play around me and we were told to shut off all electronic devices at the start of the play, however that didn't bother me, but I would've liked to take pictures and videos for the memories with and for the children. They honestly acted like it was a high class play. It was clearly amateur, no offence, it truly was wonderful for what it was. But the ushers made the experience horrible. Needless to say, I only took one picture before we left the house, and that was my 3 girls in front of the Christmas tree in their Christmas dresses...
Read moreFirst performance space we went to once the COVID restrictions were lifted. Became a Bronze member this year to take advantage of advance ticket sales and other amenities. Prior to this we have taken in many shows in both the main theatre and the smaller studio. Both fit the bill for what they were designed for.
The main theatre is low profile, very clean and post free allowing for unhampered viewing from everywhere. Even the in-audience sound booth has been strategically placed lower to not interfere with the sight line. The seats are spacious and comfortable for an enjoyable evening (or afternoon) of entertainment. And the quality of entertainment is in line with the community it serves. Great stand up acts, good family fun, easy listening musicians and quality acts from all around.
The smaller studio setting is perfect for those more intimate performances with a restaurant-style table setup that reminds one of the small jazz/folk clubs of yester-year. Great for those participation events where the audience can be involved and the performers can be relaxed.
Seat prices vary with each event but are amongst the best value anywhere. The staff are mostly energetic volunteers who enthusiastically manage all your questions and needs.
The Burlington Performing Arts Centre (BPAC) is well worth it from...
Read moreI have attended numerous concerts at the Burlington Performing Arts Centre and have always enjoyed and shows and venue. I live in Mississauga and the drive to Burlington to attend a show is worth it. The last 2 events I attended were rather disappointing. The shows were spectacular. However, what was upsetting and angered many people sitting closeby to these nuisances were the use of cell phones and photos that were being taken throughout the shows. Despite the fact that at the start of the show it was clearly announced that the use of cell phones and flashes should be refrained, some people still maintained this practice. These cell phones were very distracting and showed a total lack of respect for the audience in their vicinity. It would be greatly appreciated if the BPAC could pay closer attention to this issue. The use of ALL cellphones should be prohibited during shows; and much more emphasis be placed on this at the commencement of shows. It is evident that many people choose to ignore these rules. However, it is incumbent upon the BPAC to enforce these rules thereby ensuring that its audience are not made to feel intimidated by cell phone users with the ultimate goal of having a pleasant...
