Cora Breakfast & Lunch — Restaurant in Burlington

I don’t normally write reviews, but this experience was so frustrating I feel compelled to warn others.

First of all, the opening hours posted outside the restaurant said 6:00 AM, but when I arrived at 6:15 AM, everything was locked. After standing around in the cold and calling multiple times, I finally saw someone coming in at 7:00 AMish. Why advertise the wrong hours?

Second – and this is far worse – I asked if anything on the menu was halal. "Yes, the chicken breast is halal", a staff member confidently told me. Based on that, I ordered my meal. But something didn’t sit right with me, so I called Cora’s head office later, and they confirmed that NONE of their meat is halal. I was shocked. I had eaten something that goes against my dietary and religious beliefs.

When I brought this up to the location where I ate, they refused to give me a refund. No apology, no accountability – just a bunch of confused staff who clearly aren’t even properly trained on basic things like food sourcing or respecting dietary restrictions.

This was the worst customer service I’ve had in years. Misinformation, disrespect, and zero professionalism. If you have dietary restrictions, or just expect honesty and competence from staff – AVOID THIS PLACE.

I took my family for a brunch at Cora and it was not a pleasant. We waited to be seated, a waitress came in a hurry and seated us at a table throwing a couple menus without even a chance to talk to her and without even asking for our seating preference, having a 5 years old very active boy I prefer a booth to keep him under control, so I went back trying to explain our preference to her and as expected I started getting the dirty looks from the cook (Open kitchen) and her telling (more like yelling) me to go back at the entrance once more. At that point I decided to leave but I wanted to give another chance for someone else at the restaurant to make the situation better. Another waitress came and nicely explained to us that they try to distribute customers to provide better service, although second lady was nicer but she didn't address the extremely rude reception by her co-worker and cook so I thanked her and took my family and left because I couldn't risk ruining our outing in a place that is clearly not welcoming and friendly. I decided never to go to this place ever again and would advise the same to anyone who wouldn't...

I was quite disappointed today at Cora’s Appleby location. I went in and got myself seated, I was waiting for a friend. I got in at 11 am(it was not busy at all, no one waiting, plenty of seating) got a coffee and my friend got late due to an accident on the road. The waitress was very rude to me and asked when my friend was going to be there because they can’t seat people unless the full party is there. I told her my friend was coming, then my friend arrived around 11.09 am, the waitress made us feel so uncomfortable and circled 6 times in next 10 mins to see if we had ordered. I can understand doing this if people are waiting but we went at a non busy time with no waiting, then why rush people? Anyway, she was rude through and through, I love Cora’s but will NEVER return to this location, ever!!
