UPDATE 10/15: We were craving burgers this evening and naturally thought of Five Guys. What a big mistake! The young fella taking our order was a gentleman and a scholar, no issues there. We had kindly asked/specified for extra jalapeños on the one burger (which is shown on the receipt) and that the cheese be layered on each patty instead of what they normally do which is just throw both slices of cheese in between both patties. Big deal??? Apparently it is according to the manager/owner. He out right says “we don’t do it like that” and I respond I’ve been coming here 5yrs and never has someone told me this. He replies “multiple people have been fired for the way they layered the cheese, I’ll do it just this time but never again”… I thought to myself, this gotta be a joke right? Who fires employees for LAYERING CHEESE on burgers according to a CUSTOMERS REQUEST!!!??? This guy does at this specific location! Then he claims 4 jalapeños on a single burger is considered extra and that it’s $1 extra even though IT CLEARLY SPECIFIES IT ON THE RECEIPT! I reply, how come the kid didn’t charge me to begin with??? It would’ve avoided this current NONSENSE I’m going through. He tells me the kid taking orders is NEW! 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ I’m sure the button on the POS system would’ve charged accordingly if there REALLY was a charge for extra jalapeños 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️. CLEARLY this guy is NOT right for this business. Aside from his TRASHY attitude towards PAYING customers, our burgers were EXTRAORDINARILY greasy (don’t ask for extra napkins, the fella making fries and bagging told us they didn’t have extra napkins to give and only gave 2 napkins) and the place was a pigsty! Debris all over the dining room floors, the garbage in mid dining room was SO over packed the door wouldn’t shut and tables & chairs/booths had crumbs all over them. There were 6 employees behind counter and the wise guy was relieved by someone right when we finished our meal. Talk about having SERIOUSLY LOW STANDARDS. We’ve been to dark/dingy BODEGAS IN THE BRONX, NYC and have seen 1 or 2 employees bang out lines out the door and more complex menus with HIGHER STANDARDS than this so called manager/owner. Hand to GOD 🙌 we feel sorry for the money we spent here this evening, will NEVER spend another penny at this location and I sincerely hope the poor employees that were terminated for layering cheese on burgers according to PAYING CUSTOMERS SPECS called the labour board on this guy and is handled accordingly…
Original review: Thank God the food is always good here, we’ve never had a bad meal. Service really depends on who’s taking your order. Some are better than others in that department and some days the dining room area is cleaner...
Read more5 guys? More like 2 chefs and 3 lollygaggers. I think I'm giving this review more than it deserves...
I came here with a group of 5 and we were all pleased until it came to the shell peanuts... there's a giant box of complimentary shell peanuts but one of us had noticed some were spotted and somewhat moldy. It was giving us a bad impression because these peanuts were roughly down to a couple scoops. It was like they were covering the old peanuts with the new ones. 5 guys, I'm absolutely certain this is wrong, definitely deceiving and needs to be looked into. Clearing 1 of 5 guys isn't doing their job properly. I'm honestly glad we noticed this sooner rather than later. I would've gotten a picture, but it's like 1 of the 5 guys is paid to lollygag right by the box. When one of my friend's had brought this to their attention, it was immediately shrugged off. He didn't respond to my friend. Instead, he just had some short dialog in another language to his coworker at the grill, and ran off to another counter to face away from us, implying he wanted nothing to do with this situation... We know 5 guys is American, but c'mom bro be understanding and decent to your neighbors. American's and Canadian's don't respond like this, that we know of...
Make sure to check your nuts...
After this, we just hoped after paying +$20 each our combo wasn't gonna be nuts :/
I got a double cheeseburger combo and it certainly did not lack... everything was hot, fresh and incredibly tasty. I assured that the burger and fries weren't nuts :/ but twas bussin... as a pro note, they overfill the bag with fries, always expect the bag to be loaded with more fries than expected, literally more than the fries container can hold. This is a nice twist especially because the fries were done perfectly.
5 Guys definitely have their own unique and enjoyable taste when it comes to burgers and fries. This undoubtedly pairs well with a group of friends, family or both. Just make sure your group can handle a little bit of attitude because these 5 guys can be like 5 divas...
Food is great, check your nuts and...
Read moreNoisy, overpriced, chaotic... is what I would say about my experience here today. My son wanted to have Five guys burger for dinner so we went in. Place is busy so folks clearly like it here, but I think its overpriced and over rated. Extremely noisy inside with staff shouting numbers at customers (who can't hear because the place is so noisy and everyone is shouting). Invest in a cue system with number display or something. No one in this place is following any covid protocol... even staff is telling us to shuffle along and bunch up with people in front ... very strange... and uncomfortable. We stood bunched up with tons of other people for over 20 mins for our 2 burger order. Actually 22, but who's counting. I think more frustrating was to see countless uber drivers come in and out within 2 minutes while we all stood there bunched up waiting patiently for our order. as for the food... i think the burgers are not worth the money. I'll take a grilled burger over a fried burger anytime. My son though the bun was very good... just enough seeds, but not too many.. the cheese was "melted perfectly" and the patty was ok. The bummer for him was that the patty is smaller than the burger so three quarters through the burger you end up with no patty and lot of bun left (see photo). he has five guys number 5 on his burger list (1. Hero, 2. BK, 3. A&W, 4. Harvey's, 5. Five guys, 6. McD's, 7. Wendy's.) love the list. I do like the fries, once they cool off they are good with good amount of seasoning. Still think over $28 for two burgers and one fry and no drinks is ridiculous.. especially for what you get. The lack of distancing here still boggles my mind... I guess that's why province is shutting restaurants...
