Plum Garden & CHAKURA — Restaurant in Burnaby

2nd time order here. They got the drink wrong again. Boss doesn't speak English.

I had a bizarre experience with this restaurant. I understand that this is a place that most likely is staffed by students. As I got in to pick up my order from the food app, the chef walked out of the kitchen, exclaiming in Japanese, "he is not here?" at the door. He continued outside to look around even as I was leaving.

Upon returning we realized we were missing a drink. I went back to pick it up since I am not too terribly far while my family called ahead to let the restaurant know. The phone number went straight to voicemail.

I walked in to explain myself and the student staff explained to me that they don't do BOGO in the store. I tried to explain that if the food app sold an order of BOGO, they need to make two drinks. She explained again that her manager didn't tell her about it.

Eventually she did make drink for me to take away. She also confirmed that they don't take phone orders or answer phone calls.

Food was good. Kids love the sandwich. Portion was filling. Just a very bizarre...

Ok like as one of the decent places at university for Asian food I have been here alot. And tldr I have to say this place I would give a 3 if not for there amazing katsu. Like I don't know what they do to their Katsu but it's soooo good for the price. The skin is crispy and pairs great with the rice.😋😋

Anyways now for why it got 3, Drinks: the boba is garbage ,the pearls have been unappetizing more times than not. I usually don't leave toppings unfinished but I have here.🗑️🗑️ However ❗❗ the fruit teas here a pretty good they put like real fruit bits in their drinks and it SLAPS👌😊👏

The service is fine , never had a bad experience but nothing standout.

The inside of the restaurant is ugly. 😶

Like if you want Asian food this is an option, I crave their Katsu on occasion 🥺🥺( like right now) ALSO DONT GET THE HAMBURG STEAK ITS GENUINELY NOT WORTH IT , THE MEAT...

I used love this restaurant before they changed owners, now their food is really bad. I ordered a bowl of noodles and I saw the chef pick up an egg with his bare hands and throw it into my bowl, when I ate the egg, it wasn't even fully cooked. Aren't the cooks supposed to be handling with gloves and hairnets? Then I ordered a cup of tea with the noodles for an additional $1.5 and asked for less ice. The owner was like, no we can't change the amount of ice, etc. Not...
