IHOP — Restaurant in Burnaby

Where do I start? First off the waiter Grant is a real winner! Literally the worst server I have encountered and I do not expect much from IHOP. Went with my family yesterday and we had Grant as our server...great...not! We ordered our food with no problems and was told I had to order certain entrees to have a kids meal free (I order 2 kids meals because my daughter wanted to try the Mac & Cheese...big mistake!) dry and disgusting she did not eat it. I ordered the turkey dinner, comes to the table and was disappointed just from how it looked. I tried the mashed potatoes and they tasted like dish water, literally. then tried the turkey that looked like deli meat, sliced exactly like it was sandwich meat (nothing like the picture on the menu) or nothing like any turkey dinner I have ever had. Oh the stuffing looked so good in the picture, but I barely saw it on the plate...not even 1 tablespoon. OK so I call over Grant tell him I did not like the dinner and had no flavor and potatoes were not good, he say well nothing has changed and is always the same, he did not offer me another item or anything just took the plate and threw in his dish container. After that he never once came back to the table not even for the bill. So go up to pay and my dinner is on the bill, I said I am not paying for it and he said I had to because they did nothing wrong and was the same as it usually was??????? I was stunned and other customers around me were as well. I said I was not paying and he said if i didn't he would call security, I was shocked he was saying this. After about ten minutes he finally took my dinner off the bill and I said I will be following up with his manager to get the rest of my money back and he says good luck with that one. He said his manager was worse than him, I scratched my head as what he meant? Anyway all and all the food is very poor and service well good luck if you go, hope your food is up to par. I would nor recommend this location, far better locations than this. More went on with the server Grant and I can go on about it but he was plain rude and condescending. I wish i took a picture of my dinner so you all could see...

The service was lackluster, and the entire team seemed a bit chaotic and like they were frazzled and constantly confused with their jobs, even though it wasn't that busy (half the restaurant was empty). We waited in line for 15 minutes, which normally is fine but everyone else waiting including us noticed how many staff were walking around and that half the tables were available, so we were all a bit annoyed at this wait. The guy takong payments at the front said they had a server go home so they shut down some sections as its too busy for the rest of the servers now. Having been a server for years, and seeing how many there were versus tables being seated, they definitely need better training or new servers all together as they should have easily been able to take on more than 2 tables a person. The food came out quickly after we ordered, and it was okay, but definitely lacked flavor and we've enjoyed much better at other IHOP's. My chicken and waffles were extremely dry and flavorless, so no recommendation on that, and my husbands omelet wasn't fully cooked and he couldn't eat anymore after a few bites. We did however enjoy the Oreo Milkshakes very much. With other locations being not that far away, I'd definitely recommend going elsewhere. The whole team needs better training and confidence if they want to run smoother and have happier customers. Teach them not to rush tables by giving them the receipt at the same time as bringing their meal, teach them to check in on their customers meals to see how their going, instead of disappearing for good after delivering the food, and teach them that if you have time to joke around and play with eachother in the back and in front of customers, that they probably have time to seat and take care of...

I don't review often but I felt the need to review this time. The service was TERRIBLE, I hate to do negative reviews but I've never went to a place with such a bad costume service. We arrived and our server didn't even introduced herself, we got our food after a long time and I've been to this exact location before and never experienced anything like this. We started eating and, of course, when you're eating you get thirsty, our server NEVER checked on us, the exact opposite we had to beg her for water, unacceptable. We asked for water OVER 3 times, never got our water, we were all thirsty. We would see her walking beside us, bringing plate to people, we would try making eye contact and she would absolutely ignore. I needed to go, we asked for the bill and that's when she brought a jar of water, like we paid and we finished our food, we were no longer thirsty, all we wanted to do is leave.I don't want to mention name and we completely understand people have down days and she might've worked the night before or something happened, completely understandable, however, your costumer begging for water over many times it's bare minimum. She didn't smile once, unfortunately we all didn't tip, which I personally always do, if you are serving me I already appreciate you for doing this service, this time tho I couldn't feel appreciated. I feel the need to mention name because I don't even want to make worst but its was my friends birthday, our server was Jojo however we tried calling other servers and felt as ignored, when we left one person smiled at us and that was the best part of the whole experience because we felt...
