During my recent visit to Old Xian's in Crystal Mall, I was excited to try their famous Spicy Cumin Lamb Burger, a take on the traditional Rou Jia Mo sandwich from Shanxi province in China. The handmade bun was filled with spicy cumin lamb that was cooked to perfection with a blend of garlic, chili, and other spices. The flavors were well-balanced, and the lamb was succulent and tender.
I was impressed with the quality of the burger, which was evident from the first bite. The bun was light and fluffy, and the meat was fresh and aromatic. The spot was busy, with a fair lineup, but the wait time was reasonable, and I received my order within 10 minutes.
The service at Old Xian's was excellent, and the staff were friendly and helpful. If you are looking for a unique dining experience, I highly recommend Old Xian's Food. The Spicy Cumin Lamb Burger is a must-try and is a perfect representation of the restaurant's dedication to quality ingredients and excellent service. Even with a fair lineup, the wait time was only around 10 minutes, making it a great option for those who are short on time. Overall, I had a fantastic experience at Old Xian's and would...
Read moreDO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT. We only read the reviews after going to the restaurant, basically alot of reviewers repeated what we had experienced. The most terrible service we have ever encountered (from any dining experience) from this older Cantonese lady (who might be the owner). We had to wait quite abit before we got seated and served tea. When it came to ordering, we try to order the cold noodles but the server told us it was sold out. We had to wait awhile till she came back, and we decided to try out another type of cold noodles and she said it was sold out again. Before she even let us change our order, she went to serve another table. We were stuck waiting for the server for awhile and was on the verge of walking out. Finally we got our orders places. The biang biang noodles was quite decent. Portions was abit on the smaller side. When it came to paying the bill, my boyfriend did not give tip. Afterwards, the cantonese lady came up to us and demanded tip. We had to explain to her twice why we did not give tip because of poor service. Overall, the food was not bad but due to poor service we are not...
Read moreIt’s been months. I check the menu like it’s a missing person poster. I whisper to myself: “Maybe today’s the day. Maybe is back.” It never is.
This wasn’t just food. This was an emotional support meal. That tender pork? The rice that soaked up every drop of flavor like it was born for this mission? The cabbage crunch? I have not known joy like that since 2016.
I’ve tried moving on. I’ve ordered other dishes. I’ve even tried cooking at home. But nothing hits like that Stewed Pork Rice. I dream about it. My therapist knows about it. My boyfriend knows not to bring it up unless he’s ready to see me cry.
Old Xian’s, I’m begging. I will write a haiku. I will start a petition. I will trade my soul (or at least a Costco membership).
Just… please bring it back. Metro Vancouver deserves...
