My family and I have been coming to Sunday night bingo for 7 years to support the local bar. We always have a great time, getting together to have a meal and good laughs with family, friends and staff. We have never had any issues with anyone until tonight. We were told that all the tables were full so we were told to grab some seats at the bar and to wait for a table to open. So we did. There was 3 of us sitting at the bar and my mother who is in a wheelchair pushed up against the bar. My husband had noticed that a table was empty and had asked 1 of the waitresses if the 4 of us could sit at one end of the table and was told it was reserved for the bingo caller and his family/friends in which my husband said ok no problem and made his way back to the bar and was leaning over to talk to my mom in the wheelchair when the bartender told my husband he had to leave. My husband was kind of confused thinking maybe they have him mixed up with someone else so he asked why, and wasn't given a reason. They bartender was a complete belligerent jerk, leaning over the bar trying to intimate him telling my husband ,"hey buddy pack up and get out you are been asked to leave" my husband responded to him by saying,"watch who your talking to and be respectful." due to my mother and father sitting next to him. Then the bouncer was instructed to ask my husband to leave. My husband said no problem he was just waiting for his wife to come back to the bar. My husband said the bouncer was very respectful and polite. When I came back to the bar my husband said we have to leave, that he had been asked to leave. So he left the premises and waited for me. My parents were asking what was going on and I told them we were leaving to which the bounce had said that our whole party had to leave. I was like your kicking out my parents, my mother in a wheelchair that hasn't done anything? The bouncer said I think so and said he would ask his boss. when he came back he said sorry but all of us had to leave. The place was packed and I guess the bartender didn't want seniors sitting at the bar when he could have a bunch of younger people drinking and making more money off of tips. So much for loyalty from long...
Read moreI had one of my worst experience in restaurant in my life. I got there at 7:06 pm on Thursday and apparently Canacks were playing. I got a text from my friends saying we got a table , come and join us for a beer and billiard. Once I got there , there was the rude gentleman which I found out later that he is also one of the owner of the pub. He stopped me from walking in , he said we are full and there is no more tables left. I told him I am a regular and I am meeting my friends here. They already have a table so I don’t need to wait or worry about a table. So he let me in. I went and signed up for parking and start looking for my friends , it was so busy that honestly I couldn’t see them. So I called my friends and found them after a few minutes. This guy who was the bouncer / owner / village idiot comes up to me and says that I can’t stay as they are at maximum capacity, he also had the nerves to tell me that I was laying to him and I just wanted to sneak in the pub and I pretended that I didn’t see my friends. I was very very upset at this point but didn’t say anything to him. I know nothing good is going to come out if I speak. So I left and I told him I never lied to him and I don’t even care about Canacks as my team is on the other side. But his attitude was one of the worse. I have been a manager at restaurant for over 15 years and I never ever seen such a display of disrespect, the way he talked down to me like he owns me. I think he forgot that we pay his bills. We I mean customers, we only come back if the service is good. Ok food we can get anywhere, it’s the service my friend. So go and learn how to treat people with respect. I was there for one reason only to see my friends and have a beer. Now you lost not only my but my friends as a customer. And yes believe me I will tell this story to everyone I know. I play in 3 different soccer leagues and 2 baseball teams. They will all hear about this. He may not care but I will never come back to that put...
Read moreAn amazing local pub. High quality food, best prices in town, great amenities, great atmosphere, and great staff.
Food: I'd recommend some items from the menu, but there are simply too many to list. You really can't go wrong with the quality of the food in this place. The new ownership has gone out of their way to provide high quality food and it shows. The standard pub fare is available (wings, chicken strips, fish and chips, garlic dry ribs, burgers, etc). Everyday they have breakfast, lunch, and dinner specials for less than $6 including a roast beef dinner buffet. You simply cannot beat the prices for the quality. What sets this place apart from the regular pub fare is the home style entrees... meatloaf that is amazing, steak sandwich done to perfection... The food is highly recommended!
Amenities and Events:
3x bar pool tables 1x 12ft snooker table Dart boards Shuffle board
Bingos, 50/50 draws for steak, live DJ on Friday and Saturday night (often this place gets packed with SFU students because of the 2.50 drinks), Thursday night has an open jam session - so far the talent has been quite good to amazing... great atmosphere with the live music. They also frequently hold special events (bands, shows, etc)
Atmosphere:
It is a relaxed setting with lots of pleasant regulars and friendly staff for most of the week. The regulars tend to make way for the younger crowd (18-30) on Friday and Saturday nights. The new and old staff are friendly, quick, and very welcoming. If something is bothering you, they will tend to help you get things sorted out immediately (e.g. with food orders or whatever). Although the staff are on the younger side, they are very respectful and mature for their age.
I can't stress this enough! This pub is a diamond in the rough. On that note, the google marker has the wrong address, so look for fitness 3000 instead - both are in the basement of the...
