I have tried a few Korean-Chinese restaurants over the past several years. Out of many places I tried, I always ended up going back to Heeraedeung in Coquitlam as it is my favourite one that is close enough to travel from Burnaby. Ever since Taewon has gone downhill, I have been wanting a decent Korean - Chinese restaurant in Burnaby. I ordered jjajangmyun, seafood bokeumbob and kkanpoonggi. Considering the fact that I took 15 extra minutes to get to the restaurant than when the food was going to be ready, and also that i ate at home (10 minutes away from the restaurant), the food was pretty good. Jjajangmyun sauce was tasty with good balance of salty and sweet taste. Pork and veggie chunks were good size for regular jjajangmyun, even comparable to some places' Gan jjajang. I would say its as good as the one I would have at Heeraedeung. Gganpoonggi was good, too. Despite the fact that it was tightly wrapped in the plastic bag, some pieces were still crispy. Great sauce and good portion with the meat still moist and flavourful. The only thing I did not like was that some. Bigger pieces were slightly undercooked. They appear to be cooked safe to eat (which makes meat more juicy and tender) but it was just a tad undercooked to my liking especially for dark chicken meat. The taste was at par with Heeraedeung. Seafood bokeumbob was well seasoned with good amount of small shrimp and chunks of squid. It's not as tasty as the one from Heeraedeung as it can have a bit more smoky flavour (wok hei), but it was still very much enjoyable. The food would have been much more tasty if I were to have it at the restaurant, but due to COVID-19, it will just have to be take out. Considering how much closer this restaurant is than Heeraedeung, I will definitely be choosing to pick up from 88 Noodle House instead of going all the way to Lougheed.
update: taking two stars off for service and quality of food. Three additional pick ups since last review. Once they forgot the sauce for the main dish. The server argued that its impossible for her to forget the sauce by the way she works. No apology, said that there was nothing she could do to fix the issue. Food quality has gone down a bit, jjajangmyun was okay, Tangsooyook has gotten smaller in portion, thicker breading and dry meat inside. Gganpoongki was also dry inside. Jjampong was the...

Changing my review again from 1 to 3 stars. They’re getting better :)
CHANGING MY REVIEW FROM 5 to 1 STAR.
Original Review:
I was so happy to find this place near by so I don’t have to go all the way to lougheed. I called to get a take out order but they offered free delivery. I ordered combo C and jjajangmyun was the best!
Edited Version:
We used to be regulars here and used to order once a week. They knew that we always ordered often and was being friendly to us. PROBLEM, they took my order wrong once and I called them and said they gave us extra stuff so they can come back and pick it up. Unfortunately, they already charged us for the extra food that wasn’t supposed to be there.
Instead of issuing a refund, they said they will keep a $20 credit for us to use. Following week, we made another large order but they didn’t let us use the $20 credit and instead they were pushing to give us free item that costed $8. Then I said okay fine, I didn’t want to argue. When I got the food, we noticed that the deep fried pork (tangsooyook) we always order had really poor quality this time compared to all our past orders. The fried pork were mostly hallow and they made the small pieces of pork look large by adding significant amount of batter. Also I gave them $10 tip for just a take-out order to show support during covid.....so many regrets if I think about it now.
I felt like they didn’t appreciate the fact that we were always supporting them by making a weekly order. After this incident I never made another order again. I feel that’s it’s wrong to treat a regular customer this way. Customers...
Read moreIt is new Korean Chinese restaurant in my area and I was skeptical about their authenticity at first because my friend tried once when they newly opened, and it was not the best experience for her. However, my experience at this restaurant was great. I was kinda in hurry to order and eat food because I had an medical appointment soon. So, the staff asked the chef to cook my food as soon as possible. And it was so quick. I ordered combo A, and it came out in 10mins. I felt so relieved that I had enough time to enjoy such a nice food without a rush. The taste was nothing to complain. The only thing that can be better is amount of ingredients in black bean noodle. I love the taste and portion but I think there could be more onion or other veges in. And spicy noodle was awesome. The chef put beef and seafood together in the noodle, so the flavor was very rich. I enjoyed it so much. And deep fried sweet sour pork( tang-soo-yuk) exceed way over my expectation. The portion seemed more than enough for 3 people and the sauce was served on the side, so customers can choose either deep in or pour it all over. Since the food was a lot for two of us, we had to get to-go box. And their to-go system was unbelievable. It was perfectly sealed with an equipment they use and it was clean and satisfying. I would highly recommend this place and I will definitely go back...
