Starbucks Coffee Company — Restaurant in Burnaby

I am not a big Starbucks fan anyway so biased to start with. I feel this HUGE company should be trying to set an example when it come to waste, especially because they are responsible for creating so much. Anyway, I wanted a coffee in a cup and the little cafe nearby has closed so I thought I would give Starbucks a try. While I was in line I noticed that EVERYONE sitting down was drinking out of to go cups. I thought - they must have mugs because it is such a big Starbucks with a lot of seating. When I asked the girl she apologized and said they were a franchise and so I guess they can do what they want and that includes not serving drinks in proper mugs! I was disgusted and although people don’t seem to think it is a big deal, to me it represents our whole general attitude to creating waste, and the planet. I left, of course, and eventually managed to get a coffee at the Nesters Market because the girl there let me use one of their Nesters mugs that they sell. We have buying power people and every little bit counts. We need to try to stop using single use anything just because it is so convenient- recycling is...

They did the trick by giving them a used syrup pump. I ordered a bottle of syrup and a pump. It was not packaged when I received it, but I believed it. When I ordered all times from other Starbucks locations, I always got a new one in the packaging.

However, when I came home after buying it and grabbed it, that was sticky and the syrup was still in the pump.there was also a sticker expressing taste. When I placed my order there was no wrapping when I saw her taking the pump out from the floor side under the table, but I believed her and didn't check at there, because she put it in paper bag with syrup. If they didn't have a new pump, they had to tell the customer.

As a student, my recent visit to Starbucks left much to be desired. While I don't mind a friendly atmosphere among employees, the wait times for my coffee were unacceptable. Even after the espresso was poured into my iced flat white, there were inexplicable delays. It felt like forever before my drink was finally ready, only for the barista to stand there, seemingly mesmerized by my cup, while chatting and laughing with colleagues. This happened not once, not twice, but three times. And to add insult to injury, I was the only customer waiting.
