I rarely complain about my experience dining in Vancouver but after thinking about it for a while, I feel like my encounter is just something that has to be said.
My friend and I came here in the evening and we were aware that some of the flavors of the crepes were limited so we wanted to order ASAP but nobody took our order for a while. We noticed somebody's order was taken first even though they came after us (they ordered something to-go, not dine-in) and we overheard them ordering a tiramisu crepe cake.
After a while, our orders were taken and I ordered a tiramisu crepe cake as well while my friend wanted to try something new. The server didn't say anything about tiramisu being out of stock so I trusted them to bring me my order. Eventually my friend got his crepe cake and at the same time the server informed me (after us having to wait for some time) that they are out of tiramisu flavor so in my mind all that waiting is gone to waste.
I'm usually a pretty understanding customer but the disrespect for my time as well as lack of effort for trying to make up for their mistake is quite a significant blunder in my opinion. It's not like the place is packed or anything either, so that can't be the excuse.
Overall, the quality of the crepe cakes is pretty good (even though it is quite pricy) here but I've never encountered such a complete mismanagement of the situation like I did in Sugar Lab...
Read moreI recently discovered this place and really enjoyed the ice cream and cake. However, I won't return due to the staff's attitude and the establishment's policy. Today, I purchased ice cream, cake, and tea. I also brought a salad with me, intending to have a balanced dinner. Unfortunately, when I opened my salad, I was informed that bringing your own food was not allowed. Many restaurants allow this, especially when dining with a group where not everyone may want items from the menu.
Since this place only serves sweets, I couldn't order a salad, I would, if they had. This left me in a dilemma. Did they expect me to buy more sweets simply because I couldn't eat anything else? Excessive sweets aren't healthy, and this logic didn't make sense to me. My salad was already open, so I asked if I could finish it this time and promised not to bring my own food in the future. They firmly declined.
I contemplated eating my salad outside with my hands since I didn't have any cutlery even, at the same time I couldn't take it home already. Eventually, I left it for the staff and left feeling hungry. I won't return due to this strange policy. There are other similar places nearby, and I'll choose them instead. As a suggestion to the management, consider putting up a sign to inform customers that bringing outside food is prohibited to avoid any confusion...
Read moreThis place is just a disappointment. At first service was very nice since we were waiting and asked if we could order before we got our seats. We had a group of 7 and only 4 of has were there at that time. I ordered the matcha mille crepe, my other friends ordered something else. When our full party arrived we got the seats, the other 3 ordered some stuff along with the matcha mille crepe. When the first matcha mille crepe arrived I let my friend have it first since she was sharing with a friend and after what was like 20 mins of waiting after everything arrived we waved over the server and asked here where the other matcha mille crepe was, she said “we only had one left and we gave it to your table”. I asked her why did you take more orders of the matcha mille crepe if you knew there was only one left. She replied with “I did not know you ordered more than one.” By then I was speechless and furious. I knew I would not ever go back again.
In the end, there was no apology. A suggestion to the store, please have your servers inform your customers before...
