The food and the service were both a hit-and-miss. Me and my partner wanted a late night bite and we went to The One. We were seated at a table on the side and when we picked up the menus the table had little orange chunks and liquid on it. He also gave us three of the same menus and one drink menu. I gave the waiter that seated us the benefit of the doubt, maybe he was tired and didn't check the menus, maybe he also just didn't see the orange chunks on the table. But the waitress that came to bring us half-cups of water looked at it, put the cups farther to the right, and just walked away. I was tempted to leave right then but we were hungry and friends had told me they enjoyed their experiences at The One; so we gave it a try. The next waitress took our order and when I started to bring it up she said she was sorry and of course she'd clean it. Which she did. We got yam fries, deep fried chicken nuggets, and a lychee slush. The fries were soggy, very floppy and they just didn't seem cooked right; I didn't eat most of it and we didn't take it home, wouldn't have eaten it then either. The chicken was good, I enjoyed the parts that a strong herb taste infused on the outer layer. The slush was the best thing, that is to say the amount of ice they had piled up with syrup in it was impressive to the eye. The tapioca pearls were good too, not frozen brown. To be honest I feel as though the service was because of my partner's ethnicity. I feel like if I had gone with my other Asian friends instead of my white fiancé, we would've been seated at a clean table to begin with. Before we left another couple was seated beside us and their table was wiped down pretty well right before menus were put down and they were seated. Overall, the bad service and yam 'fries' were what really...

It has been quite awhile since I was last here . I believe most people come here for one reason and one reason only…. BIG portions and MASSIVE BBT slushes. BUT they were one of the first to do it and did it quite well back then.
This place is conveniently located in the little plaza on Kingsway and Buller Ave in Burnaby. There is free parking in the plaza or street parking is available too.
Inside is quite spacious with both tables and booth seats, a very 90’s BBT cafe vibe and look.
Here were the food I ordered;
Logan ginger tea. A very weak logan ginger taste, didn’t go too well with my taste buds. Peanut almond black tea added grass jelly. Huge size as always and it was okay. Deep fried fish cakes. They were big slices and generous portions but I preferred the thinner sliced ones because I find it tastier when the light crisp outside and the tenderness of the inside are more balanced. Wonton soup. Taiwanese style, it was okay. I personally prefer the Cantonese version more. Hawaiian fried rice. It was of generous portion, the pineapples were fresh and sweet but it’s missing that “wok hay”.
Overall, this is a popular younger crowd hang out for their well known large portions of both drinks and food. If you prefer quantity over quality and affordable eat out then this casual place will most likely suit you.
The service here was okay, quite friendly and prompt. Nothing to boast or complain about.
The food like I said were of large shareable portions. Taste wise, everything was okay except for the ginger drink. Nevertheless, every dishes here were...
