Waves is pretty dope eh! Albeit a more expensive chain coffee joint, I love their grass roots and share the love of the great white north. The joint itself is a great location to grab a coffee and walk round the very beautiful Central Park area. Alternatively, it's a great place to chill in a relaxed, mellow and non-judgmental laid back vibe which seems to be the same across all their branches. I must admit that I also get one of my favorite barista made Soy Cappucinos, always from here with great consistency. The staff are always super friendly, professional and talented at making yummy drinks. We also got a Waves-sized Roobois Canadiano which is awesome and one of the only places that will properly brew high quality loose leaf tea. My only complaint is that as a chain, and the fact their sizes are smaller than others; that paying an extra 90 cents per drink for even a dash of plant-based milk is a bit of a rip really. Stay Canada proud!

Usually stop by there for the earl grey tea and the spinach feta bistro pastry! Today i tried the black rose garden tea and (despite how long I’ve been going here, this visit was the only time I’ve been ever asked if i wanted my tea steeped or a tea bag be given). I prefer to have steeped tea always! This visit they also ran out of the chocolate ganache cake which is my favourite so feeling a bit sad they ran out (it’s only early afternoon in the week when I visited). Met someone on a scooter and they mentioned it was nice there’s ample street parking on Kingsway (in front of the café) and specially on the side streets as there are trees for shade 🌳

I think the food and drinks can be better. I ordered the spinach feta and their matcha white chocolate. I don't like the taste of their spincah feta. And their matcha white choco needs to improve also. Idk but I tried to visit their branch in Steveston, I actually liked it there. I cannot taste the matcha as well as the white chocolate. The service is nice. The girl barista is really friendly and pleasant. She always smile at their customers. In terms of the atmosphere, I will give it a five star. The cafe is small but not crowded unlike in Steveston. Overall, I'll give it a four star.

Extremely rude and unprofessional Asian man owner at the Kingsway Burnaby location.

I’ve been a loyal Waves customer for years and was shocked by how I was treated here—not once, but twice. I asked for the bathroom code and was met with suspicion and hostility. The owner asked if I was going to buy something before giving the code, even though he recognized me from a previous visit where I ordered my dark hot chocolate with oat milk.

I was told it was “company policy” to question people like this. When I contacted Waves head office, they confirmed no such policy exists. This location is clearly operating under its own discriminatory and disrespectful standards.

I’ve never been treated this way at other Waves locations. The staff in New Westminster, for example, are kind and welcoming. The contrast is night and day.

The behaviour of the man running the Kingsway branch is not only unprofessional—it’s offensive, controlling, and damaging to the Waves brand. I left feeling angry, disrespected, and unwelcome.

I won’t be returning to this location again. Waves needs to seriously reevaluate who they allow to represent their name.

I went to their location at New West, the same day and asked for washroom code and without any hesitation or question they provided the code and then I ordered my hot chocolate without any...

It is a part of a chain here in b.c. Alyhough this specific waves really does not seem like the others.I am not sure if it is Because of the comfortable seating and fireplace. Could the recent chic reno be the reason or maybe the people the friendly staff? This is not tims its upscale a welcoming coffee shop. I like the location. It was nice before and now is brighter and it seems and is alot roomier. It is not stuffy or awkwardly small. I find the other waves to be small. It is Comfortable. I live very close so I know that it is a draw for people in the neighborhood. They are happy to enjoy a coffee there. It is on the way to the Patterson Skytrain. It is close Just one block away. It is conviently close. The early morning opening is nice. I can pick up the super strong WiFi signa half a bkovk away.lol...l no chance of losing a connection here .I found that appealing as do students studying there in the evenings and in the afternoons on the weekends.Great pastries and premade sandwiches if you want a snack or lunch. Outdoor...

Asked for a breakfast wrap. Paid for a breakfast wrap. Got handed a breakfast bagel that's 2-3$ less. I then came in and gave the bagel back after I had touched it and taken it outside during covid. These people are wearing gloves and touching food and then they kept moving the paper bag that I and my partner had taken outside. And touched, all over. They moved it from the till. To the middle counter while cross contaminating everything while still using the same gloves to serve other customers. I work in health and sanitation and I came to the front to tell them thar is not sanitary ESP during covid. It should have been thrown in the garbage right away or given back to me but not tossed around the counters. And the guy should have changed his gloves at least!!

1 star because this isn't covid safe. If you wear gloves you cannot use them for everything without changing it. And you cannot just take outside food and move it around the back of the "sanitated work space" he moved it to more then one used...
