Bubble World branches are all around Vancouver, and this was my very first time eating at one, even though I’ve seen this establishment all my life! The branch in Burnaby (a brief walk away from Crystal Mall and accessible by transit) is a little older, with some areas of the restaurant that could do with a little touching up. Regardless, a good range of seating is available, and the interior doesn’t drastically or negatively affect the dining experience. Employees here were relatively nice and polite, with one usually standing close to the dining area and ready to respond to diners’ needs.
The best feature of Bubble World is 100% their drinks. I found their pearls to be just the right amount of chewy and flavourful, and the peach fruit tea was refreshing. I definitely want to order it again! My sister ordered a strawberry icecream blend with coffee jelly, which was also remarkably good :)
The Pork Chop Sandwich featured a crisp and crunchy pork katsu in the middle, along with some veggies and what seemed to be mayo. Personally, neither me or my sister are fans of mayo, and had we known it was included in the sandwich, we may have ordered something else. Unfortunately, the inclusion of mayo was not mentioned on the menu, so make sure to ask staff if you have any questions on what you’ll be ordering. I found that while the texture of the katsu was great, the flavour was lacking. Maybe I am expecting too much from a $10.95 sandwich, but I truly didn’t really taste much with the Pork Sandwich, which was a little disappointing.
My sister found that the Ham & Egg Sandwich had a little too much mayo, as it started dripping out the sandwich and onto the plate/her fingers. Besides from that, she said it was all-around alright, not the best you can find in Vancouver but good enough for its price!
The Hazelnut Toast is actually quite big in real life, and while it is undeniably delicious and chocolatey, I found it to be pretty filling. So, this may be ideal to share with 1-2 others! I really enjoyed it though, and would recommend it as a dessert for the end of your meal!
All things considered, I think Bubble World offers pretty ok, generally affordable food and drink options, with the drinks being a particular highlight! Some dishes may turn out to be more of a miss, but with the range of their menu, some dishes will also surprise you with how tasty they are. I hope to come back and try more from them :)

The sole purpose of this review is to assist and friendly remind the restaurant of their inconsistency with this highly rated dish and their response in handling the situation.
PINEAPPLE SHRIMP BALLS - received has NO SAUCE. Called back the restaurant and inquired if they revised the recipe and/or just missing the sauce (comparing to picture shown)?? The staff responded they are certain there is sauce but if still unsatisfied we can pick-up a "free sauce for our next visit" as a solution for missing in this order. Phone was placed on table while inquiring with packaging/kitchen staff that handled the order. Loud strong vocals in Mandarin argumentatively of certainty in preparation and in no way for error..fighting back with FOH staff via convo on phone. Few months earlier, this same situation occured WITHOUT sauce - and when contacted via app, uber just thanks you for your feedback regarding missing sauce (no refund), and left unable to enjoy the dish properly. This is the second time. This is the 2/2 orders we made for this dish and we find this troublesome, time consuming and distressing over a simple dish.
At the end, drove all the way back to Bubble World Burnaby and they gave a replacement, while showing them the order made incorrectly.
They suggested for next time to ask uber for full refund on entire uber based on this one dish error. That would completely unfair for the business and I don't recommend doing that in response.
Don't recommend ordering this dish/ Recommend ordering Chicken Nuggets & Taro Milk...
Read moreThis is the worst experience I’ve had at a Taiwanese restaurant!!! Extremely bad service and low food quality!! We waited for over half an hour to get all of our items. The table beside us ordered far later than us but received all the items much earlier than we did. They also provided no explanation or followed up on our items unless we asked them and this was over the course of half an hour.
The Taiwanese sausage fried rice we ordered contained only a few pieces of sausage. We also observed that our order (finally) came out coincidentally at the same time the same item was served to the table beside us, which they had ordered much later than we did. I cannot definitively say, but it really seemed they waited until they had more orders and made all of the fried rice at the same time, resulting us in waiting extra long. While I understand business efficiencies are necessary, having us wait an extended period of time seems quite unacceptable for this.
The Hakka style pork and squid with satay sauce was the final item to arrive, and it was extremely salty to the point where we couldn’t eat it.
Overall, the experience was one to forget. Service was subpar; for example, no servers bothered to refill our waters, and the only time anyone seemed proactive was to give us our bill and get us out of there. The restaurant also wasn’t busy by any means at the time. This will probably be the last time I will come...
