A Plus Donair — Restaurant in Calgary

Sketchy. Saw they were offering Donairs as I drove by so thought I'd check it out. No meat on the spindles but they said they had some ready so I ordered to find out more. Brought out a container of meat from somewhere (didn't see it being brought up to temp) and started making my donair. Guy making it did not wear a mask...it's COVID time, FFS!. No sneezing/coughing so I let him continue. Plenty of veggies and ok sauces....unfortunately it was about 3/4 of what was in the donair as he was light on the meat. Took it and tasted...taste was good but indeed it was more veggie filler than meat and I was wondering if I was going to be ill later (I wasn't) that day due to the questionable handling of the meat. Friendly folks that work there and if the donair had been 1) fresh meat off the spindle 2) proper handling /making procedures 3) adequate meat for the size, I may have given them review a 4-star review...but I shouldn't have to be 'concerned' about the food that I am served....can't give them more than 2 stars. 5-star reviews here are questionable as they contain strange feedback like 'lovely atmosphere'? C'mon...it's a converted 7-11/gas station. - functional, but...

Now..I had a craving for a donair tonight and if you do as well this definitely hit the spot and filled me up. This buisness has good things going for it, open 24/hours and great portion sizes and the ingredients seem good too but thats about where it ends. Its far from the best donair I've ever had and mainly because they are not served fresh!! This is huge, I ate it and didn't complain but it is simply just too mediocre, you can tell that the ingredients/food has either been sitting out for a while or just reheated when you order because it doesn't arrive hot just slightly warm to the touch and taste somewhat chewy as if it was reheated. If this place kept everything the same,portion sizes,ingredients,all of it but simply cooked and served the donairs fresh as orders came in instead of food thats been sitting out it would make them WAY WAY better, the tools are in place execution just needs to be a...

i didnt expect much, after reading some of the reviews, and well this being a convivence store. but against my better judgment and the fact i was craving a Donair at 7:30 this morning, i decided to try this place out. my first couple bites were disappointing. but again im craving a donair! i had a few more bites when i noticed a pretty gross taste. looking at the topping of my Donair and the lettuce was brown, and the meat was dry burn chunks. now here i am writing this, and still craving a donair. if you are like me and craving a donair follow your gut and wait for a better donair shop to open. to the person making the donair - DO BETTER, YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THE PRIDE YOU PUT...
