That place used to be my favorite restaurant in Calgary. We hadn’t been in years, and I missed it so much.
But this Sunday, I left heartbroken and disappointed.
The salad bar—which used to be one of the best parts—is now a poor, tiny setup placed right next to the hot grill. Half the vegetables were spoiled by 5:30 PM. How can cucumbers already be slimy that early in the evening? The lettuce was yellowing.
This used to be a real, fresh salad bar—with lemon wedges, several kinds of lettuce, radishes, onions, cherry tomatoes. I even mentioned it to two different staff members who insisted they never had those things, which is simply not true. And when I looked for green onions for the wonton soup, there were none.
This was the only Chinese buffet in Calgary we ever went to (dont even know if there are more like this one), and the salad bar was one of the main reasons I loved it. So no, I can’t be confusing restaurants.
Three-quarters of the buffet was cold. I was told twice by the staff, that I should have mixed it and take pieces from under… well the meat I took had no deep “under”, and how do you mix breaded fish without breaking all the pieces lol that sounded like a generic answer cuz they are used to get these complaints. Cold meat is ok when snacking on for a few quick bites, not for expensive dinner. There were fries (cold) but no potatoes. Ah well.
I came hoping to enjoy one last special dinner before starting chemo—and I wanted so badly to love it again. Bad choice.
But the worst of all, I did not expect that at all, was the women’s bathroom. The dried dirt on the toilet bowls looked like it had been there for days. As a professional cleaner, I can say even months-old dirt doesn’t look like that. I had to clean the seat myself and use paper towels and oh the toilet paper was useless. The walls, each door… omg looked like it was not washed in 2 years, full of dirt soots all over. How is that even possible. AHS wouldn't like seeing that, and im hoping that you do better in your kitchen. If you think I exaggerated, lol be my guest, please don’t take my word for it, go have a look for yourself.
And then, they were giving free drinks for a 5-star review. Now now… Instead of offering free drinks, how about spending money in direct improvement, to keep your loyal current customers happy, bringing back the real salad bar—placed far from the grill—and cleaning the washrooms properly before dinner service? “Promotions” like free drink for 5 star review won’t help if it attracts new customers who will get to see the same issues and then don’t return. I felt insulted about that, and its not making me want to return to you.
This restaurant used to be packed on weekends. It had a real energy and uniqueness. Now the decline is obvious—and honestly, sad.
When my budget allows, I’ll go to the Brazilian all-you-can-eat meat instead. Their service is A1, and its worth your money. Spent $125 for 2 people at this buffet.
The only reason I’m giving 1 star is for the grill. It’s not exactly what it used to be, but its still the best part of the experience now and I loved it.
The old Asian Buffet was the best. Bring it back, and I’ll come back—happily—and share the improvements on social media. You do this by keeping your clients satisfied, not by taking their money while giving less than good service.
Sorry, I’m just so turned off. I wish you good luck in...
Read moreI am so happy I found this place on an app. I decided to come in with my family and try it out instead. Ive been here 3 times now. Each time it was a huge rush!! This is a BIG place! Almost as big as a las vegas casino buffet when it comes to seating. So mad at myself i never noticed the Mongolian grill. Highly suggest the chicken wings! Oh my god! Brings me back to korea!! Lemme tell u in korea fried chicken is so tender juicy and soooooo good! I myself can make chicken like that but it takes some work. Its so nice to be able to sit relax and enjoy ! I always serve my family and i ALWAYS eat last. I read some of the reviews and I have to say lets be fair here. For lunch you are paying $23? $26? Per person. You get your fill of all the chinese food you want! Ive been to sooooo many chinese places and paid $110 for my whole family to eat and it was terrible! This place is 100x's more flavorful and is cheaper than going the other route of take out. Complaining about "process'd" food is NOT fair. If you want organic non processed foods then you are certainly in the wrong place and you will not be paying a low price either! This place is everything i expect when i am at a chinese buffet!! The desert selection is awesome!! ALL the cakes are so light and fluffy!! The icing is perfect! Not too sweet, but sweet enough!! Ice cream is good.,. My only complaint is, everyone is touching that scooper and its place in a jar of water that sits there for hours and I'm pretty sure that milky ice cream water is growing bacteria by the second. Now to be fair I do not know if they change it out or how often but I can say for the hour and half I sat there eating I was facing the ice cream section and I did not see it changed out. Is it possible i missed it? Of course. But IDK just doesn't look sanitary. Also i guess i could say the same for the scoopers for the food with everyone touching it. I guess i honed in more on the ice cream scooper because of the milky water it sits in. But i did eat here 3 times in less than a week and i did NOT get sick. So there u have it. It's just in my head. Friendly staff! Very friendly!! Oh!! There is a stamp card!! Make sure to get your stamp card when paying!! Collect those stamps to get a free buffet!! I LOVE IT!!! Ample parking but holy moly its a pure nightmare when they are busy!! Even parking on the aide of the building is filled!! Had no choice but to park in front of trash bins which is actually a no parking zone but literally EVERYONE did it. So we did too. Maybe go before or after lunch and dinner rush so you're not circling for a...

From my last review, there's been a significant taste to the rice. Your rice is now full of life.
Fish bone that was already sucked on, was lying on the chair. This was a nauseating sight to see when about sitting on the chair
The bananas on display for customers were rotten.
The WORST part of my visit the upper saturday is that the lady that came to clear the empty plates unethically passed her hand across my food to grab a dirty plate right over my food ...this they did twice and also, another lady picked up a glass on the table, holding the glass on the rim, poured water in it frowning like she was forced to be there, dropped the glass on the table and the water couldn't be drank as a result. The person I came with wanted cold water and wanted to drink your filty water as described below. This falls short of the food industry standard, They don't read ur expression either as nothing in this conduct looks weird in this regard. Please train your staff on handling the dinning space and restaurant etiquettes.
As usual, It appears there's an open drum that employees dip their filty hands into with the jug to draw water from....and people drink this water! The body of the jugs tells it all, running with filty water from their hands and since I saw this, I stopped drinking your water but come with bottled water.
I could only eat fried rice which tasted better than before but again the fish fillet was burnt and tasted bitter. How would tou serve this!
There was no shrimp at all except shrimp dumplin which did not in anyway taste like shrimp and was disgusting. Why was there no shrimp...I couldn't eat any protein as a result.
Your cake section is too bland....no mouth watering cakes or desserts.
Some plates had food residue from previous plate use.
Where were the pleasant staff I encountered on my previous visit?
The last time I checked, Chinese likewise my native language are not the official languages in Canada, I tried to make an enquiry on birthday celebration from the cashier lady and she well enough knew she wasn't communicating...what do we do? Keep quiet as your company cannot provide service in English...a cashier that cannot commune in English is a bomb about to explode.
I think it's time for the food inspection agency to inspect how food and water is...
