I had heard about this place many times, and finally made the trip with pot-in-hand. My entire Vietnamese soup experience was Pho up to this point, so I was keen to try Bun Bo Hue.
I ordered enough for 4 people, but what came could easily have fed 8 people. We happily ate it for 3 meals.
The broth is killer. Deeply layered bone soup with lots of depth of flavor and spice. Not as clear as Pho, but distinctly different in taste. You can add more spice when the proprietor is filling your pot if you choose. What he gave us was just right for us. Nice burn, but not overwhelming.
Noodles were really good, distinctively round, and the portion was generous. Condiments were also fresh and abundant, lime, basil, bean sprouts. Meat was a little tough, my only complaint. I'll add some of my own beef/pork next time.
It was a great experience that we hope to do again soon. I recommend it to anyone with a little sense...
Read moreI recently visited Bun Bo Hue Deli and had the pleasure of trying their bun bo hue noodle dish. Their pot to go is a big hit..Let me tell you, it was absolutely delicious! The broth was rich and flavorful, with just the right amount of spice. The noodles were perfectly cooked and had a great texture.
What really impressed me about Bun Bo Hue Deli was the quality of the ingredients they used in the dish. The meat was tender and flavorful, and the herbs and vegetables were fresh and crisp. Everything came together perfectly to create a truly amazing dish.
The service at Bun Bo Hue Deli was also excellent. The staff were friendly and the boss always greets me in Vietnamese, and the food was prepared quickly .
Overall, I highly recommend Bun Bo Hue Deli to anyone looking for the best bun bo hue noodle dish in Calgary. The quality of the food and the service is top-notch, and I can't wait to go back and try more...
Read moreDining in was an interesting experience. You have to order at the counter then take a seat inside the empty dining area. We were the only ones in there the whole time, everyone else brought their own pot. Nice to have some relative peace and quiet. A large BBH special actually costs $12, as opposed to the $9 written on what I can only assume is a very old menu poster. We asked for spring rolls (the one appetizer on the menu) but they didn't have any. Taste wise, it was incredible. Excellent broth, plenty of meat and a solid portion size. Definitely recommend it based on how hot, fresh, and perfectly cooked the ingredients were. $12 is still an amazing value compared to what a BBH costs at other pho places. They also provide a sauce cup of their delicious chili to set your own level of spice. Cash only and don't expect...
