I ordered for delivery, when the driver showed up I gave him my debit card, and he said that the lady at the restaurant told him I would be paying cash and he did not have a debit machine. I told him the lady is mistaken since I never carry any cash and I specifically remember the lady asking me cash or debit as the last thing before we ended the call. He called the restaurant and told the lady and she said he would have to go back and get a debit machine and then DOUBLE charge me 10$ for delivery. I said thats laughable considering your less than 10 minutes away and you guys made the mistake in the first place. Then me and the driver stand there for 10 minutes on the phone while she speaks to someone else in the background. I don't understand what shes saying in another language all I hear her say in English multiple times is "DOUBLE CHARGE". She gets back on and asks if I can pay with credit card over the phone and I say yes and it goes like this:-What is your number and expiry date? -XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXX -What is your pin number? -Um...you mean my 3 digit number on the back? -No, your actual credit card pin number. -Um...Im not giving you that over the phone. You shouldnt need my actual pin number. -We need it or we cant do the order -No
I'm assuming if i had given her my pin number she would have double charged me for the order despite telling her its her fault 100% and I wasn't paying an extra dime. After standing there for 25 minutes wasting my time and the drivers time they take the food back. Incredibly shady, greasy, incredibly pompous, disgusting business practices, completely unprofessional. I will never order or go here and will go out of my way to tell people to do the same.
The driver also had told me this is the 3rd time this has happened from the...
Read moreI've been going to the same Noodle World Restaurant even before it was called it's current name on 17th ave. I think before this restaurant changed hands some 25-30 years ago, it was called the Oriental Phoenix - yes, the original one! The current franchise don't even compare! Anyway, back to the review of Noodle World Restaurant, which I have always called it "World Noodle House". It's the best of the best in Calgary, probably all of Alberta. Like I said before, I've been to this same restaurant for over 25 years and the consistency and service is awesome. The vermicelli dishes, as my wife puts it, "the best" she's ever tasted. I've gone to a lot of Vietnamese restaurants over the years and this one tops them all. When I go there, I usually order #28 with the "clear" (transparent) noodles in soup. This particular entre has different tastes and texture depending on how you order it. I also order one of the following: shredded pork salad rolls, shrimp salad rolls, or quail. More often than not right now, I just go for the quail. In my younger days, I'd order all 3 appetizers but I can only eat smaller amounts now. The quail is so delicious! The mango smoothies with lychee jelly is also very good and not watered down like a lot of places.
The owner and one of the waitresses have been with this restaurant since Oriental Phoenix became Noodle World. The owner is especially nice and she gets to know you and server you well. Same with one of the waitresses that's been there from the start. It's the same consistency in the food and service that matters.
If you want good Vietnamese food, it's always on the 17th Ave or International Ave. If you want the best Vietnamese cuisine, Noodle World is the Gem - the best...
Read moreDecent pho. Horrible customer service. I used to always go here because I liked the pho, but the more often I went there the lack of effort the staff put into making my guests and I feel welcomed. I would always tip 20% even when the service wasn’t great but now I will never go back to Noodle World.
The waiters began to toss the menus to us instead of handing it to us nicely, they don’t even greet us or make us feel welcomed back to their business, and they hiked their prices up and charge a fee for tea... at other pho restaurants, the tea is complimentary!
With their new adjustments, their pho is overpriced compared to other pho restaurants in the area. It is worth it for a one-time experience, but I definitely would not recommend going here regularly unless you enjoy poor...
