Cake Bake Shoppe — Restaurant in Calgary

We Pre-ordered and prepaid for my daughters birthday cake. Given the c19 situation we were very worried about delivery as the cake is the only part of a 6 year olds birthday that could be relatively normal these days.

We needed it ON TIME as we were heading out of town... THE WEBSITE ALLOWS YOU TO CHOOSE A SPECIFIC DELIVERY WINDOW!!!!!!!! Delivery Morning... nothing....3pm still no cake. Attempting to contact them was a waste of time and they were non responsive until I posted my disappointment on social media. They then very quickly called my wife with a rudely abrupt tone and told her their policy is the delivery window was anytime before 5pm. Clearly NOT what is stated on the website. (when asked why they stated "they can't change the webpage" which is total rubbish as a webpage is scripted with html and can display ANYTHING you tell it to, been that way since the 90's). The cake was dropped off around 4:30pm. We had already left town to go to our family land.

I left one star as their website information is not up to date, their communication skills are lacking and they didn't provide the service they claimed. It should be noted that the cake looked very nice albeit missed the purpose.

the clarity at the "beginning" of the order process was zero communication. You did not contact me to inform me that your website had options you could not fulfill. The first we heard of this delivery policy was this email you sent out the day prior...

purchased a small vanilla cake with white icing, initials and a date on it for a small civil service on sunday. Ordered the cake on thursday, had it picked up on saturday. Took the cake out of the fridge to put on the cake stand before the service, it was blue and the initials appeared to be done by a small child with a crayon. We really couldnt do much at that point, so we placed the lovely blue kindergarten project in the middle of our white and pink ceremony and carried on. didnt realize that the color and penmanship werent our only problems as my daughter cut into the cake to realize that it was some sort of banana flavour. if one tried they couldnt have picked a worse flavour for someone who has never eaten a banana in her life, so from bad to worse. So disappointed and not really something you can "do over".Not a place to try if you need professionalism.

So in conclusion....if you buy a cake here, please remember, its your responsibility to know that a "white" cake means blue and a "white" cake means vanilla bean that might taste like bananas, and if your not happy with your obvious error in specifying no blue, banana flavored vanilla cake then obviously stop the ceremony and give them a call on sunday afternoon and they will fix it...oops my mistake. not open. google reviews are to help advise potential customers, i consider my experience worth sharing...they cant all be positive family and friend reviews, thats...

I contacted them for my wedding cake and they said they were available for the wedding date I requested and kept responding to emails after 2 or 3 days. That I could understand since they said they were very busy but then I asked to set up a call to discuss the final details of the wedding cake and I didn't hear back for 6 days. I sent a follow up email and then I got a response saying they don't want to move forward with the wedding cake process. Since my wedding is a month out, I was under a lot of stress and them saying they were available for my date obviously made me think we were going through with the order. I even bought a cake testing kit to try the flavours and I was fully ready to discuss the flavours and everything only for them to say they're not going through with it. I still don't understand why they couldn't have said that within a day or two if they didn't have the bandwidth or just didn't want to do it. Very unprofessional and wasted a lot of time that I could have spent talking to other vendors. Also if you're wondering about taste it wasn't anything crazy - I tried 12 different cupcakes and the cake portion all tasted the same, the icing is the only thing that had any differentiation and even that was...
