UPDATE: It says people are given free drinks in other reviews so they don’t have time to clean the black mould &debris on the floor & inside/outside cooler, accumulated grease on ventilation system, no cleaning schedule available, grease & dust many places, dry storage area dirty. Food seized/destroyed Dec/2024 by inspectors. Yummy! DRINK UP! enjoy ….(** You can read it at Alberta Health inspections& most were repeat violations.) This was the worst experience of our life after having eaten there since they were on 14 St downtown. This time was gross. I have attached photos that should say it all: there was very little meat on the lamb, it was mostly all gristle and bone, and they served it with hummus, which tasted like vinegar, not szatziki. They said it was mustard sauce which was not stated on the menu . Greek salad was not fresh at all, mine would be like that after a day or two in the fridge. It was cut like a horse was eating it . Moussaka had two pieces of dried up zucchini, one piece of eggplant and two pieces of potato and a bunch of hamburger that looked like it was fried in a pan with no spices. Where is the garlic and the Mediterranean spices? The topping was dried up and disgusting , leathery. . It seemed really old . We phoned to let them know, and they said it was our fault because we must not have eaten it right away which we did (we were hungry)& kept blaming us for the gross food that we could not even eat this time. They said they stand behind their food and they use lamb shoulder which has a lot of fat well maybe they should use lamb shank which is what other Greek restaurants use for roast lamb. Let’s see if they also stand behind these pictures proving this gross food, I think they would be ashamed of this in Greece! (Read start of...
Read moreIt has been many years since eating at the Pegasus restaurant; the last time was when they were still on 14st SW. It was always our go-to Greek restaurant until they moved (as did we) and we were excited to order online; we decided to pick it up ourselves to make certain that it arrived as quickly as possible. When we opened the take-out containers as soon as we arrived home, the food was barely warm and the presentation was terrible. Either they were having a bad night, or their standards have slipped; in either case, I cannot give a higher rating than 2 stars for this particular experience. We all agreed (6 in our family) that the taste was okay, but certainly not what we would expect from previous experience and from the price-point. Two in our party ordered the Mousakka - one vegetarian and one with meat; there was absolutely nothing else in the container. No vegetables, no rice...nothing. The other dishes were equally as disappointing. From previous experience at Pegasus (albeit many years ago) and other Greek restaurants (much more recently), I know that this particular evenings experience is not, and should not be, standard. Would I go back or order take out again? I really...
Read moreI have been frequenting Pegasus for thirty years now. I can remember only twice in that time that the food was disappointing. I have many business lunches there. The reason that I like to take my business guests there is because I will invariably impress them. Many of them have become regulars after being introduced to Pegasus. The prices are of such good value too! The food is authentic Greek. This may cause some people to compare it with pseudo Greek restaurants such as the Broken Plate. People may not expect the dishes to be as they are at Pegasus because they become familiar with the pseudo Greek food that can be found in many places around town. No one prepares lamb like Pegasus. It is always juicy and melts in your mouth. Their Calamari is the tenderest and most succulent of any found in this city. There is no place in the world that doesn't have occasional challenges with service. However, for the most part I have always found the service to good at Pegasus. In conclusion, you will not find anywhere that is as authentic and provides as good a value as you...
