Jerusalem Shawarma Shawnessy — Restaurant in Calgary

Jerusalem Shawarma Shop over in Shawnessy, Calgary, Alberta, has been my food haven for a while now. I dont post comment or leave a review normally but Here I am, compelled to share my review, eager for others to discover this experience. That genuine connections, even with food server and total strangers, hold just as much significance as any other bond.

Let me tell you, their shawarma and their Service is an absolute winner!

I Have been working in the food Industry for many years, I know how it feels to be recognized and to be appreciated. They Deserved the highest rating. This is based from my experience from JERUSALEM SHAWARMA.

Every once in a while I have time to swing by, they've nailed it—consistently great taste and always a generous serving. And those fries? Oh boy, always fresh and the perfect sidekick to the main dish with the aroma of the super duper amazing garlic sauce on the side. With a black tea ☕️complimentary. (Im dying) 😂😋

I've been around the block in the food and customer service Industry for about 15 years. My partner, who's a passionate chef, and I are quite picky about where we eat. But let me tell you, Jerusalem Shawarma Shop really impressed us.

But what sealed the deal for me was their customer service. Yes! That is the most essential part of the business.

There was this awesome guy, I think his name was France or Francis—apologies if I got that wrong—anyway, he was top-notch! Seriously, their service went above and beyond, even the other guy who prepared our Shawarma Wrap. kudos to their team, making our meal on the 12th of December truly memorable. It was the perfect start to our day, and for that, I gotta say, huge thanks to Jerusalem Shawarma Shop for consistently delivering a fantastic experience.

I should have written this review much earlier, but it somehow slipped my mind. My first visit to Calgary from BC was two years ago, and I had the pleasure of eating here. I was absolutely blown away by the quality and authenticity of this place!

As someone who has lived in the Middle East and traveled extensively to Syria, Jordan, Iraq, Turkey, and other countries, I’ve tasted countless shawarmas – it’s my favorite dish wherever I go. Without exaggeration, I can confidently say that this is the best shawarma I’ve ever had in my life.

What sets this place apart is the generous portion of meat or chicken in the sandwich. Unlike many other places in Canada, where shawarma is overloaded with salad and skimps on the protein, here they truly deliver on quality and flavor. Just ask for the “original style” shawarma and trust them to prepare it authentically – no need to add unnecessary toppings that don’t belong on a proper shawarma!

Since my first visit, this place has become a destination in itself. I literally make trips to Calgary just to eat here! Now that a branch is opening in BC, I’m excited to save myself the journey. I only hope they maintain the same exceptional quality at the new location.

Okay, let me tell you why this Jerusalem is, hands down, my favorite spot in all of Calgary for that incredible Middle Eastern food fix! There are a few places around town with "Jerusalem" in the name, and I've certainly tried my fair share. But the experience I consistently have at this particular Jerusalem just keeps me coming back. From the moment you walk in, there's often that bustling, welcoming atmosphere that I love. What really sets it apart for me is the food – it just tastes authentic, like it’s made with those traditional family recipes they talk about. Whenever I'm craving a truly satisfying shawarma, whether it's chicken or beef, this is my go-to. The meat is always so flavorful and tender, and they're generous with it! I've had some amazing shawarma plates here, piled high with delicious rice, fresh salad, and those incredible garlic potatoes – don't even get me started on their garlic sauce, it's addictive! Their wraps are fantastic too, perfect for a quick and delicious meal. I've also been really impressed with their family platters when I'm with a group; it’s such a great way to sample a bit of everything, and the portions are always more than enough.
