Shawnessy Vietnamese Restaurant — Restaurant in Calgary

With so many great Vietnamese restaurants in Calgary I would not recommend going here.

Welcomed by a lady yelling from across the restaurant "sign the paper" (AHS Covid registry). I obliged and looked up to see her pointing at a booth. I made my way to my table and a few moments later she dropped off a menu a napkin and break apart paper enclosed chop sticks. After reviewing the menu I made eye contact and she made her way over to take my order. Not a word was spoken by her. She wrote down my order snatched my menu out of my hand and disappeared into the back.

I ordered Shrimp and Pork salad rolls and a bowl of Sate Beef Pho. The salad rolls looked like dehydrated grey flaccid - you know what. There was no taste at all and were rubbery. The Sate Pho was void of any Sate and any taste at all. Under seasoned and unenjoyable. To replicate what others have said there was no basil garnish and the sprouts appeared old, dehydrated and grey.

To make it all worse the staff was mopping the floor right beside me through out my meal!!!! I arrived at 1pm this was not close to closing time.

The worst service we have ever received. Walked in, no smile, no hello, the man simply pointed to a dirty table. After 15 min he comes to our table and says 'you okay?' And we ordered. No smile, no acknowledgement.... nothing. Food came fast from a female server in sweats but was dropped off in stages without eye contact. We ate, food was mediocre. My husband ordered satay beef and didnt get it. Sat for a long while with dirty dishes. When we finally decided we had to go, we looked around for staff, but found none. The female waitress was sitting and eating with a friend and the man/manager? Was on a personal phone call when we called out to her for the bill. She did not speak to us but pointed to the front. We walked up to pay and waited another several minutes for the manager to finish his personal phone call. He finally decided to grace us with his presence so we could pay, and we still got no eye contact from him, no smile, no thank you as we paid...nothing. We were there for 90 minutes and they said exactly 5 words to us and didn't look at us once. Won't be...

I went to this place after a long day downtown. I read the reviews and I wanted to try it since the wife and i love pho. Getting there we were seated and then ignored for 10mins. Then when we finally got someone to take our order we asked for it to go. Not the best reaction from the waitress. Then we were forced to wait 30 mins for our food. It wouldn't of been so bad if everyone had to wait but 3 tables that showed up and ordered after us got their food first. Then we get our food we go home once we get home after paying almost 20 bucks for my food alone I only get half of what I ordered. Not to happy about that. I called to explain what happened and all I got was I will cover you next time. I said thank you but then he said ok bye and hung up. Dud not take any information or nothing. So I do not expect it to be honoured. So the service was nit so great and it needs work. But the food was some of the best pho I have had in calgary.
