Marble Slab Creamery & Poko Popcorn — Restaurant in Calgary

I had a very frustrating experience with a mobile order placed through the Marble Slab app. The order was for two ice creams: Chocolate Swiss and Chocolate Peanut Butter, both in vanilla sugar cones. The receipt clearly listed a “vanilla sugar” cone — which refers to the cone type, not a flavor.

But when I picked up the order, the staff completely misunderstood it. They treated “vanilla sugar” as an ice cream flavor (which they don’t even offer) and added a scoop of vanilla ice cream to the order. Instead of giving us two cones, they served the ice cream in cups and gave us just one cone on the side.

When I brought it up, the staff insisted I was wrong and told me I should have specified two cones — even though the app clearly included the correct cone selection. It was clear they didn’t understand their own ordering system or menu, and they refused to acknowledge the mistake. I’ve never experienced this level of confusion or lack of professionalism at an ice cream...

Went there last night with my family. As we entered the store, the girl working there did not give us the time to decide the flavours we wanted, and rudely asked ‘what do you want?’ Then we hurriedly picked some flavours and then she started asking ‘what toppings?’ I wanted to take a look but I had to pick something quickly as she gave me an impatient look. Right when I told her what I wanted, she asked ‘what else?’, So I had no time to browse, I picked again another topping that I wan not hundred percent sure about. And she asked again ‘what else? So this time I started looking for something interesting and while i was looking, I found that she is already putting my ice cream into the cup. I think the employees were asked to rush it so they could save the toppings. This is what you get after paying $7...

Their product is always great. I am Lactose Intolerant so I am always excited when I can find ice cream that accommodates. Again the product is delicious. Wish they had more Lactose flavors. But Vanilla and Chocolate are great. The reason for 3 stars and not 5 is simple, every time we have gone here the lactose ice cream is only available in a quart size. So we ask if we can mix some toppings in to the ice cream, the girls working behind the counter have consistently scoffed at the request, the halfhearted effort to actually mix in the toppings is laughable and frustrating at the same time. Over all the product is great, but the service consistency could use some work. We will still visit Marble Slab because the lack luster effort to mix toppings is out weighed by the product, maybe not by the price....
