The other night in the parking lot of this McDonald's was one of the most entertaining nights I've had all week. My husband and I were attempting to use the drive-thru, when we realized his window wouldn't roll down! Fortunately there are no barrier curbs along the drive-thru lane. We were able to escape the "drive of shame" that so many other restaurants force you to complete when you change your mind on partaking in drive-thru service. Too many times you see the server in the window, glaring at you with an evil eye, hating you for getting their hopes up that they will be able to happily serve another customer.
After carefully negotiating a random slalom of carefully placed traffic pylons nearby the restaurant dumpster, we chose a parking space that faced the establishment. There was plenty of space in the parking lot; I was thoroughly impressed. Since we had taken our cat for a drive with us, it was my duty to stay behind in the car and protect him from cat-nappers, while my husband went inside to order from the counter. In the few moments that I waited for my personal food delivery boy to return, I witnessed a cabbie pull into an adjacent spot after also completing the traffic cone slalom. He, however, did not enter the restaurant. As I pondered his reason, a young man quickly ran up from 17th Ave. and hopped into the car. I imagined what grand adventures he must have had. Perhaps he was a spy who was attempting to escape Soviet thugs.
As soon as the cab pulled away, the brown bag arrived, and my husband with it! Even though the cat was not happy, I knew I was. Instead of heading home to enjoy our late night dinner, we unwrapped our hamburgers and ate in the car. We continued to watch the scenery around us as we chewed.
One unfortunate mini-van failed to complete the pylon slalom, and took one of the cones to the front left tire. Another attempted the drive-thru course, but somehow became quite confused and assumed the window that was not being operated by staff was the finish line, even though an employee was hanging far out of the proper window to indicate that it was, in fact, the finish line. It took a good 45 seconds of waving and beckoning for the mini-van to slowly approach the finish line and be rewarded with a warm hamburger. A woman pulled up in a red car, got out, and had great difficulty traversing the icy parking lot in stiletto heels. I admired her determination in such adversity. You go girl!
As we finished our meal, I mused that Forest Lawn McDonald's made for an fairly entertaining "date night", and my only disappointment was that I'm not a pothead, because I'm sure this would have been absolutely HILARIOUS to watch...
Read moreI've had one of the worst experiences with this location. I ordered online through skip the dishes. When the delivery came, it was a completely wrong order. The order slip was correct but the contents of the bag was completely wrong and far off from being correct. We called this location and they confirmed that they have the wrong order and have our order on their counter at the store. However, they do not have anyone available to bring back our food and also asked us if we could drive ourselves to the store and bring the bag with the wrong order with us to return to the store. We ordered through skipthedishes so we wouldnt have to leave the house at 12am to get food. But, we wanted our correct order so we drove there only to be greeted by one of the rudest employee at the window. When we tried to talk to her, before we could even finish a sentence she would walk away. She apologized with the most monotone voice while looking completely annoyed of us. Not only that, we were told on the phone that our order was at the store but the moment we got to the store, we were then told that the smoothies we paid for were no longer available because they ran out. The thing is, we could see one of the two smoothies of the flavour we ordered sitting on their counter. My assumption is that someone else after us ordered one and they sold it to that person instead of prioritizing that order for us knowing we were on our way. The manager who i assume, answered the phone didnt even talk to us or apologize in person. This was such a disappointing experience. This situation was handled poorly and the staff at the window was...
Read moreThis is an isolated experience. My wife and I ordered two No.3 combo bacon and egg with 2 coffee. We then ordered a medium orange juice as well. We stated we wanted to consume on site and presented vaccination proof and id. At that point we were informed the dining room was closed while at the same time, we mentioned people were already sitting there. It was then confirmed we were ok to stay. .We were given the bill it was not a combo. It was 14 and change. We realized this not moments after. We then proceeded to get someone's attention only to be ignored multiple times. Someone came finally, and rectified the bill to make us pay more. We received our meal with a coffee made that was not requested properly and a small orange juice that that was paid for medium. After eating, my wife needed the washroom and they refused access because they argued that she can not use it since she did not purchase anything. I am the one who purchased the food while she was standing beside me. After a short argument, they decided to let her use it. I contacted McDonald's headquarters instead of writing a review first to offer the opportunity to rectify the situation and to contact me. All my wife and I were offered through email with no call, were 3 medium coffee. This is a terrible experience to rectify with 3 coffee. I am disappointed with a capitalist corporate company that has the power to do more to make sure clients...
