As the freshly crowned Captain Cyclops, laser mounted and mind sharpened by laser engineering, I ventured out from Glamorgan Manor to test local sushi waters. I expected good fish. What I got was otherworldly delicacy with absolute pandemonium in the rice.
🍣 THE FOOD
Golden Dragon Roll that practically breathed when it hit the table—so fresh that for a moment I thought I tasted a tsunami.
Spicy tuna tacos that sizzled my taste buds with telepathy. My third eye twitched in appreciation.
Matcha-mist sake that fizzed in my mouth, revealing visions of flying koi in corporate boardrooms.
Tempura shrimp so airy they floated upward, then plopped into my mouth like fluff bombs.
🎭 THE WEIRD STUFF
I placed an order and a plate slid itself across the table with zero visible help. The waitress winked like: “Enjoy, Cyclops.”
The paper napkins had printed stickers of radioactive sushi that glowed faintly under my laser beam.
A man in kimonos performed an impromptu drumming ceremony at the sushi counter, using chopsticks and soy sauce bottles. I joined in. Utter chaos. Utter magic.
At the end of the meal, the chef passed me a single maki roll and whispered in Japanese, “Now you know.”
🎉 THE VIBE The whole place hummed with cosmic sushi frequency. Lights pulsed gently to match my pulse. My laser-strapped forehead left a faint imprint on the table, but they just polished it… respectfully.
Five stars
Because it's not just sushi—it's a ceremony of taste and controlled anarchy.
Because the staff not only tolerated my third-eye ambiance—they fed it rice and cheered.
Because the food is so damn good it fuses your soul with the sea.
If you’ve just emerged from a hotel spiral or remember your name only when you flicker your laser—come here. Eat. Laugh. Join the drum circle. Walk out not just alive, but sushi-infused and slightly more legendary.

Read moreI discovered this hidden gem when I was attending Mount Royal College ( yup.. been going here way before Mount Royal became a university.) They have changed owners since but they have kept the same quality ingredients and their signature sauce which is what I come for. I generally come for their lunch menu which is affordable and offers a great selection that includes a soup and salad. We also always order their spicy tuna or spicy scallop roll which has their Momoyama Signature sauce -it's unique and I have yet to find another restaurant in the city that has something similar. The sauce is hard to describe but it is the type of sauce that anyone can enjoy even if they don't like spicy food. I don't think it is spicy at all but more like a little kick but my 12 year old didn't think it was spicy at all. I would always recommend getting anything with the signature sauce. I feel that they do offer quality ingredients and they take pride in making sure the presentation matches. Every single dish is well made. The rolls do not fall apart and they're not covered with more rice than actual filling. I think the only complaint I would have is that their dinner menu doesn't offer a lot of platter/bento style choices similar to the lunch menu. I found that I had to order a lot of things a la carte which can add up. That's why I generally come for lunch and I actually live about 35/40 minutes away, but everytime I can make a detour or I'm close by, I always plan to have...
Read moreNot only is this the freshest, best tasting sushi in Calgary, it's backed by a customer service that's 5 stars in the city. I've been going here for at least 12 years, it's changed owners since I started coming and the quality has not missed a beat. If you want to try a spicy tuna roll that's not your typical "Siracha with mayo" then your in for a treat! Hands down, it's my favorite spot for sushi in North America.
Recently I ordered to pick up and mistakenly they forgot to add my Spicy sauce to the order of spicy tuna rolls (they keep it separate to not saturate the rice during transport). I live a little out of the way from the restaurant (approx 20mins drive) and didn't notice until I'd gotten home that the sauce was missing (first time ever!). I called back and asked if they could send it with a delivery man on the next outing. Unfortunately they don't have a delivery service but the head chef was able to sneak away and deliver it for me. I don't think this happens often (once in 12 years for me) but the fact they went above and beyond to deliver this to my house was such a treat. There was even quite a bit extra so I added it to my chickens next meal, not even close to the perfect combination of rice, cucumber, seaweed and tuna, but still good.
Bravo Momo-Yama!!! You have a...
