Nixx Neighbourhood Pub — Restaurant in Calgary

I didn't realize I had reviewed Nixx 4 years ago with a 3 star review. But here is an update nonetheless. Was there late last evening and the service was pretty bad. We ended up waiting 10 minutes before being greeted and asked what we were drinking. (It may be our fault for not wait to be seated). During those 10 minutes, a few of the waitresses looked our direction only to go back to socializing with their friends or other customers. (They may have been off the clock even though they did go behind the counter a few times.) Once we received service, the drinks did come out very quickly by a friendly waitress. We ordered two orders of wings which took over 30 minutes. At one point I asked my friend if he wanted to cancel them because surely the order was not given to the kitchen. (Wings cannot take so long from a pub on wing nite....) He being a nice guy said to wait a bit longer. They finally arrived and were hot and delicious, so they have that going for them.

If you're looking for a quick drink and wings, be prepared to wait needlessly. Waitstaff do take for granted people's patience and willingness to tip the default 18%. (my friend...

Not impressed at all with the service! There was 7 of us, but we all arrived at different times, staggered throughout the evening. 3 people ordered food, everyone else only ordered drinks. Service was very slow, and it took nearly twenty minutes to get a coffee with Bailey's. Everyone was paying separately. Two of our group left early, and apparently didn't tip. This prompted the waitress to say that our group was being forced into paying auto gratuity, even though their policy is that it's for groups of 8+. After reminding the waitress that there was only 7 of us, she proceeded to say that it was the manager who decided it, and then continued to say that she would have to pay out of pocket if people didn't tip. We asked for the bills anyways, and decided not to fight. It took another almost 20 minutes to get the bills, but she came back saying that they kindly decided to waive the auto gratuity, then continued to lament about how she would be losing personal money if we didn't tip, while we paid. Never going back again, and...

A couple of weeks ago I went with my boyfriend to check out these amazing wings that he keeps speaking about. They were honestly some of the BEST wings I’ve ever had!

Unfortunately tonight when we decided to go again, we were highly disappointed. The wings were nothing like the last time we went just a few weeks ago. Our wings came not breaded and looked nothing like the last time we were there. Definitely disappointed considering we talked about how much we were looking forward to them throughout the day.

It’s so unfortunate when you go to a venue and the consistency isn’t the same.

We were told tonight that there were new cooks working this evening. It was super frustrating when the servers kept bringing our wings back saying they were breaded, but it was very clear they weren’t.
