River Park — Attraction in Calgary

It's a lovely place for a stroll, whether you have a dog or not (it's an off-leash area). It's big enough to accommodate one and all. It's really remarkable to have such a large space like this in the inner city. Gentle terrain for a walk. There's not a lot to see, other than nice views into the Elbow River valley. Great dog park. Everyone is friendly and very respectful of the land. The water fountain is an awesome touch. Periodically there's a dog treat vendor or musician in the park .. a nice surprise when you catch it. Access to Sandy beach is easy and fun for the dogs. Although the main path and field are busy, def try the other not so busy paths with a bit more bush ... lots of great sniffing spots .. for the dogs that is! I go there daily and highly...

Great dog park, friendly people and dogs. There's light standards all along the path (the upper field, not down at the water). In the summer time there's a water fountain. A parking lot at the south end, or street parking along the side further up. Plenty of room for ball throwing and some trees for sniffing.
