I decided to check this place out, as I heard good things about it. We went around 630pm, on a weekday. There was quite a bit of a line already, both in the drive-thru and the walk-up windows. Very busy place! We waited about 10-15 minutes in the drive-thru just to get our food, so if you are in a rush this is by no means a 'fast-food' joint.

The menu is minimal, which is expected - burgers, shakes, fries, and sundaes. We ordered two cheese burgers, a poutine, and an Oreo shake. The shake comes in one size and it is large. My sister and I got one to share and we couldn't even finish it. The shake was delicious, though! There were lots of flavours that I would love to try for next time.

The burgers we're great - even though we got single burgers, they were double thin patties. Not sure if a single means double and a double means triple? The 'peters sauce' on them really made the burger! Sweet and tangy like a BBQ/rib sauce.

Poutine was lacking - the gravy didn't really have a great flavour to it and seemed under seasoned - we had to add a couple packets of salt to give it a boost. The size was good though, large enough for two people.

A couple things to keep in mind - there are two drive-thru windows on either side of the building - the line starts off as one and then kind of curves to split into two - it's hard to realize this because alot of the cars stay in the line closest to the beginning of the drive-thru entrance - we drove around the line to the second window and were able to get our food quicker.

Another thing to note - this place only takes debit or cash...

Peter's Drive In does not stand by their promise for quality.

The last time I went here, I got a burger and onion rings. The onion rings were terribly made, and left a very bitter taste in my mouth after eating them. So I called the location to let them know.

The lady on the phone took my name and number and promised me I could get a replacement free of charge the next time I visited this location.

Fast forward to now, when I went to attempt to redeem my replacement onion rings, the man working told me he couldn't give them to me. He just kept repeating "it was 5 months ago" and, apparently, that offer only stands for one month. If that fact was true, I was not made aware of that at the time I spoke to the woman on the phone. I even still had my original proof of purchase, which was shown to the man, to no avail.

When I let this man know that he was losing a customer, he was completely indifferent. He also didn't treat me the way a customer would expect to be treated. He was quite rude and abrasive towards me, which I do not appreciate as I am only trying to get what I originally paid for. This is not the way a business should be run. Repeat business and reputation are important to uphold.

Save your money and go to another establishment that will appreciate your business and stand by their product, because this...

My work day has me driving by Peter's every Thursday around lunch time and I have noticed over the years that the drive thru is not busy like it once was. So last night I figured I would take my son there for the first time so he could try it out. This is when I found out why this place is not as popular as it once was. Right off the bat I noticed that the prices are 30-40% higher than they should be. We get past that and try to enjoy the food which consists of a double cheeseburger a small fry and 2 milk shakes. Initial taste of said items made me realize we chose poorly spending our money here. The shake was absolutely tasteless and for my son he could not sip it and gave up on this tasteless dessert. The fries were all small bits that were soggy and again lacking any sort of flavor associated with can't get enough of kind of fries. Now the burger was the absolute disaster of the entire meal. I was unwrapping this fairly small sloppy thing that when I bit in I was uncertain of what kind of meat I was getting myself into. It was this overprocessed awful textured thing that was so displeasing to the mouth and senses. This was for sure the last time I choose to spend my hard earned money at this place that used to be the talk of the town when it comes...

For a fast food experience of burgers, milkshake and fries, it's not bad at all. The 4 star rating is based on fast food style vs other fast food joints. By no means is it the best burger but for what it is + value...it makes it worthwhile. Don't expect a quality, made to order, fresh off the grill style. This is more of a Salisbury steak with a good amount of sauce (gets dipped into it when it comes out of the cooking line). Its not dry for this main reason. You get to choose your condiments to toppings or simply say "the works" for everything . They're not stingy on one or two strings of onions as some fast food joints would be - they give toppings to the point that you see them all. The fries here and onion rings are very good and a small size is like the large size at McDonald's. If given the choice of McD's or here, there's some uniqueness and also cost value where this one would beat it. They also serve up a lot of different flavour milkshakes (a lot of folks order it) but be aware that most of them are syrup based for flavouring. A good place to go but if it's worth that constant long waitline...I would hold out and go when it's less busy.
