So the real skinny on Primal Grounds, in it's new location on Richmond Road, is this: They took over the old Good Earth spot and the difference between the two is night and day. (Good Earth you should take note here) The new operator, Margaret, is as smart a restauranteur as a person could be. She's friendly, she's a wicked good cook, she's willing to listen to ideas and suggestions, she hires good people and treats them with respect (something the Good Earth people NEVER did here), her food is TO DIE FOR, her soup is legendary, and the entire W side of Calgary knows about her famous mouth watering Carrot cake. Primal Grounds extols everything a neighborhood coffee shop should; warmth, comfort food, atmosphere and a constant desire to return. It's the complete polar opposite of what the Good Earth joint was. Thank God Good Earth and its miserable, rude owner was there for a while, as it showed all of us what we never want to experience for the sake of a coffee again. Primal Grounds on the other hand, is a safe haven to have good food, hot coffee, a smile and a laugh, and enjoy a rejuvenating break in a busy day. 10/10!!! #PrimalGroundsCalgary...

Had a really lovely day at Primal Grounds! I say day because I had a vehicle appointment nearby and decided to work for a bit at the cafe while waiting for my vehicle... and unfortunately that "a bit" timeline needlessly turned into "all day".

When I arrived the ladies working the morning shift were all friendly and when they realized I had a laptop, they made sure I was in a comfy corner so I could get some work done.

It definitely got busy during the day, especially around lunch - lots of customers, lots of regulars, lots of delicious smells.

I ended up having many lattes, a grilled cheese and took home some carrot cake. All lovely! And I agree with all the other comments about cake slice size - it's a big one, definitely shareable!

I won't be back to the location that worked on my vehicle, so I won't need to annoy Primal Grounds by plopping my body there all day working again, but can say I'll absolutely be back to Primal Grounds for coffee and to try more...

Went to the Cafe today looking to support small business, as I know the coffee & food industry is especially struggling right now. Perhaps my expectations were too high, I appreciate specialty coffee and love supporting local businesses but zero percent of expectations were met.

The experience today made me feel horrible from attempting to have small talk with the snappy barista down to the under extracted and overpriced cup. They also closed 10 minutes early and I wasn’t able to use their washroom. Being a Glenbrook local, I won’t be taking my friends and family here, I highly advise you go anywhere else it’s not worth the cost to feel poorly about your experience.

Want to support a local, earnest working and quality cafe, this isn’t it. Go to Analog, Phil and Sebastian, Barrow, even McDonald’s and Starbucks provide a more...

I had RSV followed by COVID and for over a month I ate nothing but soup. Initially I was concerned about getting nourishment while trying to recover. But, family started dropping off Primal soup for me and I realized with the variety available, it would be fine. The soups taste like your Baba or Nonno or Nan have made them on a stove with love. My Favorites were borscht, the mushroom varieties, Thai chicken, Turkey dinner, lentil and curry ones, but truly I liked every single one I tried. It usually took 2 days to finish one container. When I started to improve I served half the shitake mushroom soup (which contains wine) over wild rice with chicken and that was amazing. I will continue to keep these healthy and scrumptious soups as part of my normal routine. I will also keep them in mind for when friends are sick!

This cafe offers delicious soups, sandwiches and drinks. You can also buy frozen soup in bulk to take home and eat later, which I tried and was delicious too! They serve 3 of their soups a day and have a full menu of cafe sandwiches to choose from. All of their soups are gluten free. Some are also vegan or vegetarian. For a cafe that has only gluten-free soup, I was surprised they didn't have more GF sandwich and dessert options. They had a couple sandwiches and dessert items tucked in a fridge that they showed me once I asked. I had the GF Ukrainian Borscht and a GF grilled cheese and both were really yummy. I would definitely recommend!

Primal grounds was suggested to me over a year ago and I finally went😅 It definitely did not disappoint $26. For their soup with half a sandwich special, lg latte and ginger whoopie pie. The latte was delicious no sugar needed, the soup and sandwich was delicious, fresh and definitely a good size portion..I would have added a little more flavour for the veg/cheese sandwich but that’s my preference, the ginger whoopie pie was super delicious however way to sweet so took an extra day and a couple coffees to finish 😅 the staff were all very friendly and helpful. I would definitely go again👌
