Punjabi Chulha Restaurant & Sweet Shop — Restaurant in Calgary

My sister ordered somosa for the next day, they requested that she call the next morning to remind them. However she was busy, so I called and I realized they don’t fluently speak English. My punjabi isn’t fluent so there was a language barrier which really annoyed me because I had to speak to 3 people until they understood that I was calling as they requested to remind them of my order ( which is a bit ridiculous). I walked in and immediately wondered why my sister ordered somosa for her colleagues from this location. It’s uninviting and gloomy however the man at the register was incredibly polite and kind; he asked if i needed anything else, I ended up purchasing a small box of jabebis. Her colleagues really enjoyed the somosas, and found the spices to be delightful and were thrilled about the jabebis. I would have rated them higher however being a business, hiring staff that speaks English is expected and having customers remind you of their order, is unreasonable in my opinion.

Update: my sister ordered from them again and their food was absolutely awful non edible. I do not understand why she repeatedly...

I rarely leave reviews, but my experience here was very disappointing. I placed a pickup order through Uber Eats, and the app showed that my food was already “ready.” When I arrived at the restaurant, my order was not prepared at all.

Instead of apologizing or giving me an update, the staff member (a young woman at the counter) told me to wait. While I was waiting, she gave priority to other customers who came after me, which made me feel disrespected and ignored. Pickup orders should be handled properly, and customers who have already placed and paid for their food should not be pushed aside for others.

To make matters worse, when I finally got my food, it was overly salty and not enjoyable to eat. The poor service combined with the low food quality made this a very frustrating and unpleasant experience.

Restaurants should respect customers’ time and provide both good service and decent food. Unfortunately, this place failed on both. I will not be returning, and I cannot recommend...

Birthday Dinner Spoiled!!!! Felt ashamed in front of my guests. I ordered shahi paneer and malai kofta and find no difference in gravy . I have tried lots of restaurants and this is my worst one. I suggest order your food from Rasoi. I also ordered veg Biryani and OMG very low quality rice were used and on top of it they were uncooked shame total shame. When you listen thier add on radio it says " Than than tai kha ke vekha but punjabi chula jaisa swaad kahi nahi" total joke . I also noticed a couple trying thier sweets in shop and said thier sweets were bitter in taste and left without taking anything from shop. Seriously i was nervous from that point and at the end it was total waste to order my child bday party food. I will never go and never suggest anyone to go to punjabi chula.
