Reds: Ellie’s big breakfast. I wanted Pancakes! Yet I also wanted eggs and meats…. (Ellies BB) I got the blueberry…. It was one pancake… real fresh Blueberries, not this syrupy preserved ones (yes there’s a huge difference!) and when it was delivered with such a great presentation, it lasted seconds! Super tasty! Great flavour. Usually I graze from item to item, experiencing the flavour mixes, but this delicious pancake was gone! Delish! (Maybe next time I get Ellie’s bigger B!) Onto my “perfectly” soft poached eggs…. getting soft poached eggs right, seems to be a major challenge for most restaurants for some reason…. Reds nails a soft poached egg. Cooked just enough to be runny, but still a thin gel on the edges. Perfect for my two delicious slices of Rye buttered bread. Mmmm butter. I first like to dip my toast, harking back to Mum cutting me “soldiers” to dip into my soft boiled eggs in their shell, and cute Kitty cup holder as a kid! Then I take the rest and spread it on the toast. Yum. The Rye toast had great flavour as well, this was no “wonder bread” whimsy compatible bread, but Rye the way it’s meant to be. All accompanied by another delicious treat, a mini sausage, and single slice of bacon. All in all, a fairly light “big breakfast”, but they do offer a similar much bigger portion as well, with three eggs. Today’s version actually comes with one egg, but for a reasonable $3.50, I added a second. Perfect. I’ve seen other similar restaurants list an extra egg as high as $8.00!! But that could of course be for a poached egg…. Still! Yikes. $3.50 is reasonable for a no frills egg, anymore and it would be too much really. “Just right”, and fair. All in all, this dish was around $20. Now, granted, I can get this at other diners for around $10 a $12, $15… however, just not the same quality, flavour, presentation, smiling happy staff, and flavour. Yes, I often choose a restaurant based on staff. Very important! Do they care? Friendly? Enjoying their job? Managers too? Great! I’m not a fan of “worker bee” establishments, they forget you to their tasks, very annoying at many places. Training and serving education “lacking”. Sadly common, and ultimately surprising at “service” oriented establishments. Amazing. Luckily, Reds is not none of those! If you just want to stuff your face and go back to business, go to the cheap places maybe, but if you want an experience, and enjoyment come to Reds! I got a table on their covered and heated patio, it was toasty warm! So if you’re a “cold” person, pick the patio! Lol. It’s really totally enclosed anyway. The sun was keeping me warm as well, and had me thinking of tropical Climes, and maybe heading to Play Del Carmen! Lol. Coffee was great too. 100%. Thanks for...

We usually go to Reds on 4th downtown as it's close to where I stay and where my mom works. So while I was out with my boyfriends near Chinook we decided to stop in, as the regular location has great food and wonderful staff.
This location is the COMPLETE opposite. When our waitress came over to take our order, I told her that I was anaphylactic to pineapple, mango, and kiwi. She extremely rudely said "We aren't liable for you, just so you know". I am well aware, and I only told her this to inform the kitchen to avoid cross contamination. She rudely replied, "Yeah, they'll try".
When our food came out, it looked completely different than the other location. Soggy almost mashed home fries, not seasoned and not tasty at all. But what really made me angry, is when she put the food in front of us and said rudely, "Now don't go eating his fruit, it could contain your allergies"
The way she said these statements tells me she has zero knowledge, nor care about someone's allergens. I carry my epipen on me everywhere as I know it isn't completely avoidable, but it is my responsibility to inform the staff so I may have a lesser chance of having to use it. She was careless, rude and shouldn't be serving if she has no customer skills.
I will never go back to this location, and I will absolutely be informing friends and family to avoid eating here as well. We will continue to only dine at the 4th st location as they go above and beyond, from the first time, everytime.
Adding as well, I've been a server for a few years, and my mother is a chef. Both of us appalled at this level of uncaring, and rudeness.
She was wearing glasses, reddish hair, blue jeans and darker Sketchers shoes....
Read moreCompletely Gross! Period. My sandwich was like it was soaked in cold milk and the bread was like soft cold milk flavoured jelly slime!!!??? The eggs on top of the sandwich were very under cooked I asked for over medium. Instead of fussing my husband traded me his eggs. I don’t mind runny eggs. But the whites were not even half done. I don’t even think raw egg whites are safe?! Was cold inside I picked it up it had clear cold liquid draining from it. The ham was hard as a rock. I can’t believe it.
I complained and sent it back and I was still charged for it. Never took a single bite other than the one I spit out and gagged on.
See pictures. The clear liquid on the plate was not egg. It was like the cold milk had curdled and that was the clear part.
I was super polite and felt like it was not the waitresses fault so I left her a tip!!! Big mistake!!!!
As soon as she handed me the receipt she said “I think next time you should stick to crepes”….
Just …. Wrong!
I am a business owner in the service industry for over 30 years. This is not how you handle this.
Disappointing for Reds. And we will never ever be back.
The way this was handled was not ok.
COST $76 + a $15 tip.
What did we get. A cold soggy jelly glob on a plate that made me gag. A manager who could not walk over to the table because she knew she said “charge her anyhow” and in the end a rude waitress. And a pretty annoyed customer who tried to be kind to the waitress with a tip and as soon as I did, a rude comment.
Don’t go here. If by chance you get a bad meal they will do nothing at all.
