Stopped in for a quick bite and grabbed a large donair. The flavors are solid, and the meat ratio is rivaling Halifax style. If I don’t get some meat sweats I’ll be surprised. The meat slices are not as thin as what I traditionally expect. They are easily 3-4x thicker. As soon as I ordered it the donair meat hit the grill getting it heated to a perfect temperature, and grabbing some additional crispness.
My only worry is that I don’t have enough napkins. It’s that size where you can’t but help get your self a little messy with every bite. Which in of itself its own delight. I was able to finish without having to ask for more.
The interior is clean and fresh with a steady in and out of lunch crowd people and delivery drivers.
This last item is just a comment on wraps. I wish there was a more fold it back type of material. The foil and wax paper tear with minimal touch leaving my tray looking like Christmas morning. Do not enjoy it when I accidentally bite into the wrapper and end up chewing on foil or wax paper.
They certainly hit all the right notes and will certainly go again when...
Read moreAbsolutely fantastic. Shawarma is one of my all-time favorite foods, and this place impressed me from the first bite. We ordered the mixed meat platter, and it was a heaping amount of food — enough for my wife and me to share and leave us both completely stuffed. She doesn’t usually eat shawarma, but she said this was the best she’s ever had.
We were visiting Calgary on vacation, so it was our first (and sadly only) time at Shawarma Palace. If I lived here, I’d be a regular, customizing my order so it's perfect for my taste — but even going in blind and asking them to give me a little bit of everything, it was incredible. I’m genuinely sad I only got to eat here once, and if I ever come back to Calgary, I’ll be here as often...
Read moreAkash was taking my order. That guy seriously needs to understand the meaning of Customer service. While taking my order, he was speaking too low, literally whispering. And when I politely told him, I can’t hear what you’re speaking. He literally started shouting on my face and gave me those looks as if he’s doing a favour on me by making my order. Bro, seriously, what even. His tone, his attitude, his behaviour didn’t seem appropriate at all. Hope the management looks into this matter and someone please tell him how to speak to customers. Just cause you use words like “please” / “sorry”/ “thankyou” in your sentences, that doesn’t makes it polite automatically, it’s your tone that...
