Ruby Queen — Restaurant in Calgary

Ok to be honest didn't expect much ....another oriental place in calgary ....right ?there's hundreds of them there ....but I am sure glad we picked this one .....at the opening up temple in NE calgary there hides a gem ...the gentleman (host I presume possibly the owner ) seated us at our ...very polite and honest . The food ...amazing with a capture A . We had about 6 dishes which included special rice ,Shanghai noodles ...salt and pepper squid ,ginger beef ,lemon chicken ( chicken soo gia) sweet and sour chicken ,and beef and vegetables. To be honest wasn't crazy about thw lemon chicken sauce was bland ...but the rest more than made up for it . It was about 122 before tip ( 10 percent auto added by the resteraunt.....but we'll deserved ) so I didn't think that was enough do I added a bit more . We went to this place for dinners years ago when it was called Jessica's and liked it a lot. Haven't been back until recently and found that it was different ownership now. We decided to try it out anyways but ended up leaving before we could even sit down. The owner was very rude. He let us sit at a smaller table which wasn't very clean, and when we tried to sit at a different table he kept speaking Vietnamese to us. I told him that we couldn't understand him at all and he said in a scolding manners that he didn't want us to touch his tables. The same person also owns a Vietnamese Sub place in a Chinatown mall and a few of my friends also had experienced rude treatments from him. We definitely will not go back to...

We decided to give this place a try and were very happy we did. The ginger beef was flavourful, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, the way it should be prepared. The salt and pepper squid is bar none, the best that I have had in many a year. The batter was thick but fluffy and the squid was tender and juicy all with a spicy bite. We also had chicken fried rice that was tasty and well prepared but the chunks of chicken felt processed which was disappointing. All the dishes came in very large portions and we definitely had to carry some out. Overall, very good food that was fresh, hot and quick with friendly service. We will definitely...
