Sunshine Vietnamese Restaurant — Restaurant in Calgary

Let me tell you a story. I have been going to this place for years; it's fantastic, great food, good service and reasonable prices. However, that is not the point of this story. I had always been quite perplexed because the owners never seemed to recognize me. This hidden gem was a weekly tradition for my family and I, surely they had become aware of that fact? This continued for years, but soon everything would change. One chilly Wednesday evening I go to pay; the buttons on the machine, muscle memory at this point. That's when it hit me, I realized my grave mistake. I had tipped fifteen cents.. I had not been hitting the percentage button all these years.. It all made complete sense in that moment, I realized how petty I must seem, how ignorant and rude I must appear. It had been years! Years this tradition had continued! I had never meant to be so disrespectful.. Since then I have righted my ways. Coincidently, everyone there...

Waste of time and money. This place doesn't even deserve a 1.0 rating. Service is terrible and food is garbage. The server was very rude and not friendly at all. We came in about 7pm on a Sunday place was not packed. Waited 15min for the server to acknowledge us with "what would you like" instead of a simple "hi" to start off. We ordered spring rolls which was a bit burnt. Beef noodle soup was OK. Satay beef is lacking flavor and too oily, the quality of the beef is not good at all, seems like someone chewed it up! We also ordered #50c diced beef with rice and veggies, the beef was extremely salty so we ended up sending the satay beef and the diced beef back and the guy was very snotty about it and said they've been selling it all day and nobody has complained. He took the 2 dishes away. He charged us for the 2 dishes that we sent back and this guy argued with us and said he has to charge us because we had a bite of their crappy...

I eat a lot of Pho. Tons.

This is the best, OG place to get it in the deeper south. There's a distinct lack of gold Vietnamese food in this area of southland this one beyond all others is the best. It's made how I expect it, like various other restaurants in the NE.

The other dishes also are superb. Portions are more than what you pay for and the quality is top.

The restaurant is as traditionally Vietnamese (see: authentic) as it gets. It's got some storage problems but anyone who's complaining about that hasn't been to a good Vietnamese restaurant. IYKYK.
