Swiss Chalet — Restaurant in Calgary

I Literally threw up after eating here

It makes me sad to have to write this review, because honestly I love the staff, they recognize you, they are very personable and friendly And the food was actually quite tasty! I don’t really enjoy Swiss chalet at all, it’s just not my type of food, but here they make it good for me, I actually enjoyed eating here

But with all good things, there is unfortunately the bad and I’m going to say that I might have got food poisoning from this restaurant. After eating here minutes later I was bound to the bathroom with and upset stomach and I went to the bathroom about 3 times within a couple hours, after those couple hours I became nauseous and felt like I was going to vomit, after about 30 minutes of being nauseous I couldn’t take it anymore and I went outside, where I threw up and went back inside to lay down because I felt very sick.

Our food also took a very long time to come, and the fries were just a bunch of tiny ones which was hard to dip in their delicious sauce

Now about the restaurant itself It was very clean and beautiful on the inside after those awesome renovations The bathroom however was very messy And their bathroom sinks suck because I had to wave my hand under the tap about 20 times before the water came on and after it did it went off 2 seconds later and I had to repeat the process about 3 times before my hands were actually washed, this was very frustrating!

Like I said, I do love this restaurant but I think the ribs were undercooked or something because I got sick after eating here, I’m sorry that this review had to be a bad one guys, I really do love the staff and the restaurant! but they definitely need to fix something’s before I ever think about coming back, because I don’t want to get literally sick from...

The signage is horrible from the street. You wouldn't know there is a Harvey's Drive-Thru if you were parked literally right across from Swiss Chalet. Anyways. Ordered online, simple process. Get there and wait - not in line - just in a random mixed up order with the mean looking Door-Dash people standing there with their bags wide open. No one was working the counter, the cash register, greeting people when they arrived. I had no idea if the people around me ordered. Everyone in the kitchen was helping Drive Thru or cooking or putting burgers together. My order was for 5:45pm. I see no bags on the table that is designated for this pick up. So, good idea here - get rid of the table. I had to wait almost 10 minutes to be greeted by someone who just appeared out of nowhere. My order wasn't ready or bagged. I paid for it online, it should be ready for me to go the second I give my name. Nope.

Got my food and left the random people behind. Parking lot packed. Get out and get home. The chicken is fine, but the poutine instantly had me in the bathroom, not once, not twice, not three times, but four times in 2 hours. The other order which was regular fries was fine for my kid. Poutine fries were all squashed at the bottom, cheese didn't stick to anything, gravy was a sloppy mess. Tasteless. It was like eating 3 individual ingredients one at a time.

The area where you pick up your orders, everyone is standing around, but there is tables to sit down once you get your order if you decide to stay in, but be prepared to have people in the way or look at you while you eat. Pleasant. That area can be...

Four years later try again! August 2023

Still horrible but this time their quarter chicken dinner is now basically a chicken wing . Price went up . When tried to ask why the portion was so different in size between white and dark meat server says yes lots of customers complaining. Offered no solution. Asked for manager he said it’s inflation and basically deal with it . “ I’m the middle man “ to be exact his words . No you are the manager rectify it or offer a solution. Instead he says just add two dollars more and add a piece more! Wrong answer . I don’t know why this location is such a disaster. Hopefully this review reaches the respective people and not just the “ middle man “. Give customers what they pay for or state on the menu our quarter dark chicken is more an appetizer now ! Been to two different locations in Calgary and by far this is the worst location I’ve been to. Our server needed an attitude adjustment and acted as though she did us a favour. Wake up “carol “ without customers you wouldn’t have a job . I’m not your honey , your lovely or any other nicknames you have . Also if anyone ever touched or even jokingly smacked my arm , I’d break their arm . I’m a customer don’t touch me . Most akward dinner of my life . Please train your staff to be professional and happy , or don’t work as a server. Never offered me a refill or nothing , dropped cutlery on the floor and instead of picking it up , she left it there.
