Freshslice Pizza — Restaurant in Calgary

Had been wanting to try this place since it opened. Heard lots about this chain in BC so we had some expectations going in. The pickup special for $12 is enticing with unlimited toppings so you can get what you like. We tried both regular crust and thin crust to get a feel for the offering. Starting with the positives, ordering online was quick and easy and the pizzas were ready very quickly. As a convenience meal, this is on par with how fast the "hot n ready" pizzas are so that's a plus. The toppings we're good although they didn't seem to have things like banana peppers. The service was quick and friendly when we went for pickup and we were in and out in less than 2 mins. Now the not great stuff. Both the regular and thin crusts were a let down. The regular crust was charred black on the top and tasted burnt and the thin crust is way too thin to the point that they might as well put the toppings on the parchment paper and call it a day. Thin crust is about texture and this ain't it. The most surprising thing is how small the medium pizzas were. Web site says 12" but we weren't able to feed as many people as other places that says 12" special. Visually, I would have considered these small. I really wanted to like this place after what others had told us but we just couldn't justify why this would out compete other similar offerings in the area. Update: Holy did this ever go down hill fast, I think I just had the worst tasting pizza I've had in South Calgary. Regular crust was micron thin and saturated in so much grease I could squeeze a half fluid ounce out. Quality of ingredients tastes all exactly the same; salt. I'm not sure what that cheese is but it's just enough to have toppings shift around. Shame this place is off my list now it was great went it opened. I regret my dinner choice tonight and that sucks. On a night where we wanted some quick and cheap pizza we ordered fresh slice via a delivery service. We have plenty of cheap pizza options in this area but was actually impressed by the selection of toppings and prices so we gave it a try. I must admit the cheese was a little lacking but most budget places are like that. I'd say the quality is near panago but well above cpu, domino or papa. All things considered I'd certainly opt to try it again. Their regular crust is closer to a thin but that's great, saves...

My husband and I ordered online yesterday for a 6:45 pm pickup. He got there early at 6:30 pm in hopes to get the pizza fresh out of the oven. Unfortunately by the time he got there, the pizza was already done and waiting… 15 minutes before our scheduled pickup time which we found very strange. By the time we got home (5min away) and opened the box, the pizza was completely cold and shriveled. We had to reheat it in the oven to even get the cheese to unharden, but at that point, once the cheese had melted, all the crust was hard and burnt. I would love to give this place benefit of the doubt and maybe they just didn’t see the later pickup time, but sadly I wouldn’t order that way again at risk that I’ll be picking up cold pizza.
